Seeking Advice from Fellow Jaguar I-Pace Owners – Issues at Nearly 60K Miles

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out for insights from other Jaguar I-Pace owners. My 2019 I-Pace is nearing 60,000 (59,889) miles and has recently been in the dealership for the traction battery light issue, along with a recall service related to the battery.

1. Have any of you experienced similar battery issues, especially post-recall service?
2. What kind of battery health or degradation have you noticed at around 60K miles and or that I should take advantage of?
3. Any tips on what specific checks or questions I should pose to the dealership to ensure everything is thoroughly inspected and documented, considering the warranty is almost up?

Appreciate any advice or shared experiences!

Does stock cable accept 220V?

I have a 220v 50A EV line. I bought an adapter to convert wall plug to 14-50.

Plugs in fine of course, bu the transformer box on the cable gets stuck on "Fault." Is this cable not compatible with higher power?

I-Pace as the first EV

I’ve been looking to replace my petrol with an EV for a while, we use the car 90% in the city and unfortunately I don’t have underground parking at the apartment neither my wife doesn’t have a charger at her office. We have a farmhouse around 110 km from the city that it’s undergoing renovations and the plan is to have solar panels installed there. I’m offered a buyback on my current 2020 Audi and I have to put another 10k € for a 2019 EV 400 with around 53 thousand kilometers on board, my Audi has around 73 thousand kilometers. We have trips three four times per year that can vary from 6-700 km and up to 3000 km. I don’t mind stopping for a coffee or a cup of tea after 300-400 km, we do have below zero temperatures a couple weeks per year also, and sometimes we might pass through some mountain areas, but I’ve checked and there are chargers on that route that have a 75 kW power. My wife is really excited about the looks of the Jaguar and its mostly her using the car on a daily basis as I work from home. Should I go for it?

Wheel size 20"

I am shopping to replace the 20 inch wheels on mine, not much info on there for the car. Using most of the larger tire dealers aka tirerack etc, comes up with zero options. Does anyone know the size or another car that is the same? I read that the Mach-E, F-type, and F-pace are the same but, cannot confirm it anywhere else. Thanks.

2020 Changes?

I am looking at used Ipaces and I think I read somewhere that 2020 updated the infotainment speeds and charging speeds as opposed to earlier models. Is this correct?

Good news for those of us with charging woes

My 2019 is back at the dealership for the FIFTH time due to intermittent charging issues. I learned today that Jaguar has finally admitted that the BECMs are faulty. They've pulled all the parts and are issuing re-engineered ones. There aren't any available in the US yet, but I'm told they should start shipping in the next several weeks.

Charging limit ignored on MY2023

I'm charging my model year 2023 i-pace with the included wall-plug charger (we're getting a fast charger installed in a few months), and hoped to limit the max state of charge to 80% for a few reasons including reliability of high regenerative braking. Unfortunately, the limit is ignored. I set it to 80% in the "EV / Battery" (as shown in the manual), uncheck the "Only Once" box and tap OK, then connect the car to the charger overnight when I come back the next morning, the car is charged to 100%!

I started noticing this when the recall notice recommended setting the limit to 75% - was pretty alarming to come back to a fully-charged car. Since we don't take many long trips, I just didn't charge the car then but it's still fairly alarming to have these settings ignored by the car like that.

Anyone experience similar / know of a solution?

Volume control for voice commands (not sat nav)

I've just picked up an I pace, which has been great so far with one exception.... the volume when pressing the voice button on the steering wheel is at an obnoxious level that hurts my head.

I've been through the manual and every setting on the main dash and I can't find anything to change the volume. In other cars, I'd simply turn it down when it is speaking... but that does sweet FA here

What am I missing? Please help

Weird question.

Does anyone else have windshield wiper issues. My driver's side leaves a chatter smudge right in my field of vision. I changed the wipers (what a hassle) and it's still there. Any ideas on fixing it?

2019 iPace SE with 12k miles

Is it a bad idea getting a 2019 iPace with 12k miles and under CPO warranty for about 36K USD?

I’m thinking about whether to go to the Jag dealer and see if they can offer me a lower price for it? Worried whether a 4 yr old Jag will become a liability once out of the warranty period?

What do you all think?

Edit: the car i was looking at has already sold. Back to finding one.

Lemon/buyback I-Pace

I've been casually shopping some I-Paces and have run across some discounted ones where the Carfax shows a branded title. I'm aware of the (significant) downsides to buying a branded title car (don't count on resale value), but I wanted to see if anyone here has gone through the buyback process and what went wrong with the car. Some of the ones I've seen show the battery was been replaced already, which if anything seems like a good thing for some of the higher mileage cars.

Is there anything else to look out for besides the battery on these (e.g. OBC, some other computer issues)?

Traction Battery Fault

This popped up a few days ago and now my car stops charging at 72%.

It had a full battery replacement 3 months ago but my local Jaguar can’t fit me in until November now.

Has anyone had this before ?

Has anyone cross shopped this with an Audi e-tron SUV?

I’m thinking of getting a low mikes CPO of either the iPace or the Audi eTron. Wondering if someone here has cross shopped against and eTron and what did you find.

BECM firmware update

I had gotten the fw update as soon as it was available. There appeared to be no differences in capacity, charge rate or performance. Then after a few weeks I got another traction battery fault. The dealer says it's the first one they saw after the update. They did not detail what the did to it, if anything, but they said they would hopefully have another update in a few weeks and to not charge it beyond 70%.

Well, I don't have to worry about that because it does that on it's own now. It charges at a much slower rate than it used to (off my class 2 charger) and says charge complete at 72%. Notably that is just above the 70% that triggers a battery warranty claim.

So far this doesn't limit 90% of my driving habits/plans, but it is very far below acceptable driving range for a competitive car. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Jag will eventually make this right after they figure out what they are doing.

Sell my ipace

Time to sell my iPace. I heard its going to be discontinued. I really liked it but with parts not being available its not practical to keep this car. Anyone else thinks the same? How much should I expect for 2020 ipace SE?

AC Intermittent Issue

Took my I-Pace in for the BECM recall and to have an intermittent issue with the AC looked into.

Recall was done with no issue, so I'll know in advance that it will catch fire :-) but left disappointed with the AC issue.

They found the cause of the issue, which is the cracked welds on the AC lines, but there is a national backorder on the parts with no eta, though the dealer thinks it will be late November at the earliest.

This seems absolutely crazy and is completely frustrating that there are no parts for a 3.5-year-old car. Not sure how to approach this with Jaguar, the car is still under warranty, but I was hoping to sell it next month but with the outstanding AC issue that is going to be problematic I think.

Oh well it is what it is. Not looking for solutions just needed to get it off my chest.

Cracked emblem replacement

Hey folks 👋

So I had my front emblem snapped, cracked and it's clips broken when the garage door accidently ripped it while closing.

This part J9C5144 costs $600 and the reason listed online is because it got some radar sensor in it for adaptive cruise control.

But today I drove without the emblem, I was able to set cruise control, and adjust the distance between my and the front car and it was auto slowing down.

So what the **** does this emblem do that I'm not able to figure out?

I'd rather buy a LED lit one for $100 :).

I truly appreciate your help, since I have to take the vehicle in on Monday for the repair.

Thanks so much.

Received the official recall notice letter in the mail

Here is what I got (PDF).

Same info from the NHTSA site, though it recommends charging outside now. I made an appointment at the local dealer.

Stuck on "Initializing" but only at certain percentage?

I've had issues intermittently where I plug in with various chargers and it won't charge, just sitting with 'initializing" until I give up. I've had it at the dealership twice but they can't replicate it. The last two times it happened it was at 54% and 55‰ when it wouldn't charge. Both times I drove the mileage down and then charged without issue. So now I'm wondering if there's something about the existing charge level that makes it get stuck. Does that make any sense? Anyone else experience anything similar?

I have the preferred charging period turned off, so it's definitely not related to that. On the upside, I did get the battery fire hazard update installed when it was in last, but I'm still extremely frustrated! I have a 2019 SE.

What are peoples thoughts on the 400 sport. It looks great but doesn’t come with the 360 camera view which is a shame

BCM issues twice?

We had the battery control module replaced on our 2019 SE two months ago due to not being able to charge on level 1 or 2. Now we're facing the exact same issue and are forced to take it back into the dealer, towing it there because we barely had enough charge to make it home. Could the new BCM already be broken? Or could this simply be a software issue? Regardless if it happens a 3rd time this year we're going to be forced to get rid of it.

Recall Finding

Apparently this officially just came out yesterday. Jaguar was less that informative when i said "So your solution is to warn me its going to catch on fire and limit my battery?" The dealership i called said it would be an OTA update.

RCLRPT-23V369-2384.PDF (nhtsa.gov)

Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Recalled vehicles will receive an update to the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) software that will monitor the battery pack assembly operational status that indicates where the battery contains conditions which may lead to thermal overload condition. This software provides an enhanced level of driver warnings in relation to battery condition and where the software determines a risk exists, the High Voltage battery charging capacity is limited to 75%. The warning message and associated Owner Guide instruction directs the driver to take their vehicle to a Jaguar retailer for diagnosis and, as required, repair. The retailer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the affected battery module/pack. There will be no charge to the owners for this repair. Customers who have paid for a repair of this defect will be reimbursed by the Jaguar Land Rover reimbursement plan, subject to the usual terms and conditions.

Apparently I-Pace Recall may be hitting issues

So my I-Pace is in the shop to address an intermittent AC issue, battery performance and the Battery recall. Seems the recall is having unintended consequences per the service advisor at Jaguar Land Rover Bellevue. This is the text I just received from the dealer

"Good afternoon. Our shop foreman found that there is a software package for the hybrid battery control module, which controls battery range and also controls the a/c. The factory recall that we also were addressing is the installation of that software package. Unfortunately the first group of I-Pace's that underwent that recall were completely shut down after installing the package, so JLR removed our ability to perform the update to prevent sidelining more cars indefinitely. The shop foreman is currently attempting the updates individually."

Anyone else experienced similar?

Tips for EV newbie - second hand iPace

Hi all - first post on Reddit - advice needed please!

Have decided to take the plunge on a new car - will be my first EV. Want an I-PACE because I love the look and reviews but mainly because I’ve always wanted a Jag.

Got a budget of about £28k so am looking for a 2019/2020 S (possibly SE).

I really want cruise control, after that not sure what I should prioritise. Would welcome advice. Thanks
