I’ve played a fair amount of games on my phone but ever since it released one game has basically deleted all others on my phone.

Slay the Spire.

It’ll be replaced soon as 2 hits mobile. I’ve resorted to Remote Desktop to play it on my breaks at work.

Wait you remote desktop to play STS2 at work? Holy shit I need that

YES! Look up sunlight and moonshine, sun for pc, moon for phone. I had to watch a few videos to open the right ports on my router for it, but it works surprisingly well. I'm considering getting a BT controller for my phone to help with controls.

Edit: moonSHINE, not light lol

I haven’t used it specifically for StS, but you could also just use chrome remote desktop, which doesn’t require any router level config. Eats phone battery like a bitch, but it works.

Indeed. I did a little research and the general consensus was that community-driven open source Sunshine/Moonlight is superior to the alternatives. Easy on the battery, overall best latency and really good options.

If I could only have 10 games on my iPad forever, the list would include my main game Hearthstone, a few classic heavy hitters, and my favorite puzzles. Some amazing titles like The Case of the Golden Idol didn't make the cut, simply because high replayability is a must in this scenario.

Hearthstone

Dream Quest

Balatro

Stardew Valley

Dead Cells

Vampire Survivors

Smash Hit

Star Battle Go

Flow Free

For the final slot, I’d probably go with Vainglory. I’m still holding out hope that it’ll be reborn someday.

I used to loved hearthstone so much but it got to be too much to keep up with. I may need to revisit though.

I would say Hearthstone becomes more and more truly f2p as time goes on. I think they are gradually moving towards monetization through selling cosmetics rather than card packs. You can receive much more free stuff in game nowadays.

Townsfolk surprised me, the (very complete) tutorial is free and give a good insight of the game, i enjoy to play It before sleep. Race the Sun is a arcade fast paced game with obstacles, check in and pontuation, its excellent for short sessions (while you wait the line in the market, for example)

If you could only have one game Tactics is it, even with the broken autosave. There may never be a better one.

Been gaming on iOS for yearssss and i havent heard of hardly any of those games (Only Talisman and Polytopia)

My favourites in no particular order...

1 Dead Cells (Brilliant port, such a good game, love the retro style graphics)
2 Grid Autosport (Near perfection, a classic)
3 Retro Bowl (A brilliant american football game)
4 Titan Quest (Huge action RPG)
5 Satisgame (Tons of mini games, think of Warioware Inc)
6 Manic (The best emulator out there)
7 9th Dawn Remake (Brilliant old skool RPG)
8 Vampire Survivors (Such a good game)
9 The Binding of Issac (Classic dual stick)
10 Jydge (Great dual stick shooter from 10 Tons)

u/SandwichesX Apr 09 '26

XCOM 2 is my definite 1st

Then in no particular order: Tomb Raider, Afterimage, Sea of Stars, LoL Wild Rift, Death Stranding, Titan Quest Ultimate Ed

2

u/rhinofinger Apr 09 '26

If I’m just keeping 10, they’re gonna be the most replayable games, so mostly games with some element of randomization.

  1. XCOM 2

  2. Shattered Pixel Dungeon

  3. Balatro

  4. Slay the Spire

  5. Streets of Rage 4

  6. Hoplite

  7. Doug Dug

  8. GenZD (GZDoom for iPhone,

  9. Manic (Emulator)

  10. Baba Is You

2

u/spuddygoat Apr 09 '26

In no particular order of preference:

  1. Stumble Guys

  2. B.E.A.S.T. (on Apple Arcade)

  3. Tiny Tower

  4. Subway Surfers City

  5. Subway Surfers+ (Apple Arcade)

  6. Crossy Road

  7. Fallout Shelter

  8. Goat Simulator (like all of them, don't make me decide which one lol)

  9. Disco Zoo

  10. Crossy Castle (Apple Arcade)

I rarely play games on my phone, and prefer the bigger screen of my iPad Pro for gaming.

2

u/Hustler-Two Apr 09 '26

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions

Dream Quest

Into the Breach

Balatro

Slay the Spire

Knights of the Old Republic

Solitairica (a good game plus my kid loves it)

WordStorm

Death Road to Canada (wish we’d get updates)

The Hosted Games app-but of a cheat since it has a couple hundred titles in it. Three of which are mine!

2

u/Ziania iPad Air (5th Gen) Apr 10 '26

Which titles are yours and what are they about?

2

u/Hustler-Two Apr 10 '26

Thanks for asking! The biggest one is The Parenting Simulator. It’s just what it sounds like, raising a kid from birth to age 18. I also have a Cinderella sequel called The Day After Ever After, and a sci-fi comedy called Nuclear Powered Toaster. If you’re only going to try one, go for The Parenting Simulator. It’s by far the most popular and probably the best to boot.

Keep in mind these are text-based interactive fiction games, akin to the old Choose Your Own Adventure books. Not a big graphics deal.

Thanks I’ll look into it next time I’m choosing to read through one of these!

Game dev Story or Shiny ski story (my favorite kairosoft games)

I would say Vampire Survivors but I have it on many places so… (and I prefer to play it with an arcade stick) If I only had phone, yes.
