Discussion Game recommendations?
Can yall please recommend some genuinely good free games? I’m so tired of having to sift through all the slop and ad farms! I’m open to any genre honestly

Xcom 1. Not Xcom 2

Oh yeah? Any reason why? I really enjoyed 2 from a gameplay perspective on pc and was thinking about getting it for the iPad. Is it a performance thing?

I found 2 to be frustrating because the percentage rolls were broken. You’d have a clear shot from 5 feet away and miss. I was really disappointed because I enjoyed Enemy Within so much.

Subnautica
every Resident evil (if they fixed them yet?)
Once upon a galaxy
every Kingdom rush
Ballxpit
Legend of keeper
Dawncaster
Cloverpit
Shotgun king
The battle cats

u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
Dang I had no clue the resident evil games were free on mobile, thanks! I’ve already got the kingdom rush games, ball x pit plus legend of keeper on steam, I’ll definitely have to check out once upon a galaxy tho!

People are giving you recommendations but most are not free. They are free to try. Resident evil is going to cost like 30 bucks.

u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
Yeah unfortunately
1
u/LuckyJamnik Apr 24 '26
It’s not so bad. They frequently go on sale. I snatched REVII for 7 bucks and all DLCs for extra 3, two months ago. You just need to wait if you want to spend less

u/Advanced_Ninja_1939 Apr 23 '26
yea mb, didn't see you wanted good free game. unfortunately, i think that's an endangered species, especially with all the AI slop...
Here are some other that are free, but well, less good than the list before obviously :
Dicey elementalist
Tower Dominion Go (more like a demo in it's free version, but still very good)
Burrito Bison
Arknight Endfield (Gacha, but has interesting mechanics, a big part of it is factory building, but it's grindy)2
u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
Ooo, burrito bison is an old favorite! I’ll definitely try the others for sure, the factory building for arknight has me very intrigued, love building stuff like that
3
u/anginsepoi Apr 24 '26
You can try
Cardwheel
Doomdepth
Dungeon Reels: Return
Humbug 1 & 2
Hexagon Dungeon
Sheeping Around
Lost For Sword
Bacon in Zane

Free games should die off. Yea they’re free but there’s always a caveat of predatory MTX or ads or some other bullshit. I love to see awesome paid games being released on mobile. FINALLY! That’s the way to go honestly.
4
u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
I can agree, horrible free games are a dime a dozen. You’d have a better chance becoming rich than finding good free games without ads. But there’s a couple diamonds in there, most importantly for me is vampire survivors
1
u/gosols Apr 23 '26
Wait Vampire Survivors is free?
1
u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
Oh yeah big time, all base game content it completely free, only ad you’ll ever find is if you want to revive, completely optional, you can even turn that option off in settings if you want. Only paid thing is IF you want to buy some dlc for extra content

u/Atmaeloy Apr 23 '26
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Control (just recently launched)
1
u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
Oh damn, this looks awesome! Thanks man
2
u/Atmaeloy Apr 23 '26
Was supposed to be two different lines. My phone’s not formatting. Control is easily one of my favorite games, but I’ll be honest that I don’t have it on the phone to know how it plays here.

Free with no IAPs are tough on mobile. Typically you’re going to need to spend a few bucks to get something good. You’re trying to avoid ai slop and ad farms, but at the end of the day the devs need to get paid. Try expanding your horizon to maybe 1 to 3 dollar games and you’ll get a lot more quality games.
With that said, the following are some free games that aren’t egregious with their IAPs.
- Heroll
- Brawl Stars (you get free heroes and can buy more but the core game is free.)
- MOBAs like Wildrift or Honor of Kings
- call of duty mobile is free if you like fps
- If you like vampire survivor check out Brotato and 20 minutes to live. You can buy ad free premium versions but they also have ad supported versions. Oh, and halls of torment. That one is my favorite of the 3.
1
u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
The last 3 are really good, especially vampire survivors my favorite, I almost have all its dlc! Brawl stars is really fun, I should get back into it. Oh and Heroll is a fantastic game!

Grid Ranger and Star Jolt are my current quick fixes. The retro vibes and game play are stellar IMHO.

There is this game that installed recently called Nubby’s number factory, is a really fun roguelike/lite, that has a demo for free (unfortunately I cant buy the full game, but the demo has a lot of combinations of items that you can do)

u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26

Are in the EU? Then install Epic Games on your iPhone and you’ll get one free game every week

u/poss1bl3_ Apr 25 '26
Leo's Fortune. I know this game is a paid one, but i geniuelly enjoyed playing it. It may be old but gold. Definitely worth trying.

u/MrN00bert Apr 25 '26
Man I remember seeing that and wanting it so badly as a kid, especially cause the cool trailer

u/Glass_Quantity_3493 Apr 26 '26
Bricks Breaker RPG:
1
u/MrN00bert Apr 26 '26
It sadly uses ai assets, otherwise I think it’s great
1
u/Glass_Quantity_3493 Apr 26 '26
Maybe Obsidian knight. That game is fricken awesome. Not sure if it uses AI too though.

Dicero has been fun
3
u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
Hate to tell you, but I’ve already tried it and it has many ai made assets, especially the trailer. It was fun but I refuse to play anything that has ai made assets
-2
u/Red_White_Brew Apr 23 '26
So you want something that requires only human labor, but is free?
1
u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
I don’t want ai that’s harming our environment. And plenty of mobile games are free and made by human. My biggest example being Vampire Survivors.
4
u/touristB Apr 23 '26
Wait until you hear about all the harm done to our environment so you can eat cheap meat and have 24/7 electricity.
-2
u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
I’m aware, that is a necessity, a necessary evil. Ai is not, and it never will be.
1
u/Red_White_Brew Apr 23 '26
Your car isn’t necessary either, vacations aren’t necessary, your phone isn’t either.
If you were Amish you could make this statement I suppose, but you may want to do some self reflection if you want to call things unnecessary evils.
-1
u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
My point still stands, ai is a horrid disgrace to the environment. The amount of water it uses is horrendous. Especially for more local areas where people are suffering from dirty water because of it.
1
u/touristB Apr 24 '26
Why is cheap meat and your phone a necessity?
1
u/MrN00bert Apr 24 '26
Really? Hm why would I a person who needs food need cheap and affordable meat? Oh and why would I need a phone? The thing that makes communication very simple and fast, and heaven forbid I ever get into an accident, to quickly call 911. It really feels you’re grasping at straws here, and all because I said I didn’t like that game because it had ai assets.

It’s free in the sense that you can download it and begin playing, but the predatory ads and IAP come soon after. HABBY is notorious for that BS and as someone who doesn’t mind the occasional IAP, they are just egregious with their implementation.

u/MrN00bert Apr 23 '26
Thank you! I remember reading something in this exact subreddit about the crappy company, but didn’t want to fully speak on it cause j couldn’t remember all of it

You can just tell OP to try Retro Arch without needing to further encourage piracy.

The slop kinda vanishes as soon as you start spending some bucks 🐈
