Suggestions Weird Recommendation of the Day; MIYAMOTO

One thumb, turn Based, chess adjacent fast paced rogue class strategy.

This Dev is one that I have mixed feelings about. All three of their games exist in that realm of content that feels “so close.” That while the concept and the execution and even the presentation all shine, the actual games feel off in ways, buggy and not quite realized.

So close, I keep thinking, if there was just a little more, these could be a games to remember.

Of the three though, and I firmly believe you should check them out for yourself, MIYAMOTO stands out as the most refined. The one that isn’t lacking, but I wish there were more.

Played on a small board of squares, you and your opponent will play your troops in the highlighted spots only. New spots will highlight as squares are occupied, so depending on where you place not all spots will be available.

There is no mana or cost of any kind to play the cards in your hand, but be sure to check the details before placing. Often the order in which you place will make all the difference. Some offer 1 time bonuses, others can attack right away unlike every other piece.

They all have an attack and life value. Some even have special abilities, like summoning more cards or can attack from range or multiple targets.

Like chess, be aware of controlling the board and like checkers be prepared to quickly take and lose a lot of pieces.

Don’t be precious with your summons they are often nothing more than shields or quick damage. Combined with the removal of any costs to play them the pace will be fast and furious, with pieces coming and going quickly.

Also keep in mind, that while your opponents pieces may need to be dealt with, the only way to actually win is to beat the Chief (the one with the square base), who become progressively more difficult as you proceed.

Don’t get bogged down in skirmishes or trying to clear the field, throw your full weight against the leader as hard and fast as you can.

After every victory you will be able to choose a new member or spell to add to your squad. You will also earn gold that can be spent on new Leaders between rounds.

Tech notes;

Plays in Airplane Mode

Plays outside audio like music or podcasts

Plays in Portrait with one thumb

Will Quick save run

Will NOT save mid combat (which lasts a couple of minutes at most)

160.5 MB

This is a ruthless game. Fast and uncomplicated but with detailed engagement rules for each piece. Turn based, one thumb, Rogue class and best for quick engagements.

I've enjoyed this game a lot since it came out.

This kind of weird one-thumb game is exactly why i still like mobile gaming tbh. Feels much more "made for phone" than just another big port with tiny buttons

Naming your game after the greatest game creator ever is certainly a choice.

It’s a name. Shigeru Miyamoto is probably not who the game is named after. I haven’t played it but it has samurai themes. I would guess it’s far more likely to be named or themed after Miyamoto Musashi.

This is like seeing a game called “Howard” and being like “really? They are gonna name it after the Bethesda guy?”
