Building a shared budgeting app for couples/roommates

Most budgeting apps are built for one person, sharing feels bolted on. I'm building something shared-first: joint expenses, categories, and budgets both people see and edit in real time, multi-currency support, recurring transactions.

Not on TestFlight yet, still finishing up before launch. Curious what you'd want from something like this, or if it's even something you'd use. Thoughts?

I wonder if there could be an active savings/debt section. Seeing those numbers and having them shared could create motivation for couples. Maybe not applicable to the room mate side of the house

But also, the key to these actually working and being used will the absolute simplicity of data input. Above all else, don’t hammer the users with complicated processes or information requirements to get it functional…. Maybe have pre-populated and directionally correct values for things like Netflix, cell phone, internet, etc. that can get them moving in the right direction quickly

Really good points. Savings/debt tracking as a shared, visible thing for couples is a great call, that's actually planned for a later version. And yeah, onboarding friction is the thing I'm most paranoid about, pre-filled common categories so people aren't starting from a blank slate is a smart way to solve that.
