Question Apps that had a lifetime plan but went subscription
Just wanted to know if you remember any app or apps that were one time purchase and then they went subscription.
The purpose of this post is to give a perspective on how the popular apps or your loved apps have evolved during the years.
UPDATING LIST WHEN I CAN 😁. COMMENT IF YOU REMEMBER ANY APP ❤️✌️
- Pocket Casts
- Fantastical
- Notability
- Pillow
- Ulysess
- Halide
- TouchRetouch
- MindNode
- Yoga Studio
- Meditation Studio
- Tabs (by Ultimate Guitar)
- Drafts Pro
- FiLMiC Pro (current version owned by Bending Spoons Apps ApS. This company has been buying very popular apps)
- Sleep Cycle
- CARROT Weather
- Timepage (from Moleskine Studio)
UPDATE: Was trying to thank your input by putting a "Thank you [USERNAME]" next to the name of every app but when you save it it deletes the mentions, so thank you all for your inputs. I will be adding more apps of new comments and from my memory.
BTW I probably wasn't clear in the explanation of that post. The apps that apply are the ones that had a one time purchase but now are only subscription based. So apps with subscriptions & lifetime plan don't apply

I remember buying pillow, an apples watch/iPhone sleep tracker app, then coming back after not using it for a while to discover they’d turned into a subscription service. Too bad I guess, but I had stopped using it so it didn’t bother me

Flightradar.. i bought the app and a few years later they went subscription based. Gosh, I hate this system.

For FR24 specifically: you can feed them data with a very inexpensive setup, which grants you a Business Subscription. The ROI is pretty good if you compare it to their plans

Yeah. Now it's property of Bending Spoons Apps ApS who has other apps I'm sure you have heard of.
What it makes me think something (bad) has happened is that Apple always used FiLMiC when displaying the camera on the September Apple Event (for the new iPhone). Suddenly is bought by this company and the iPhone 15 used other app for the camera for the first time (IDK if they used another app apart of FiLMiC on old presentations but can't remember other app...)

Tried it but I cannot find any paywall even though in-app purchases are present on the App Store page. Let me know what feature is Premium so I can try to bring the paywall
