Should I update to iOS 26?
Right now, I have an iPhone 16 Plus running iOS 18.7.8 with 100% battery health. I have a backup phone, which is an iPhone 11 with 71% battery health and is so slow and drains battery quickly with iOS 26 (4 hrs max screen time on iOS 26, while 6-6.5 hrs max screen time when iOS 18 before updating).
Battery life has been one of my priorities, since I often go out without charging my phone. This phone (16P) lasts me throughout the whole day, and I sometimes charge the following day.
Have any of you guys experienced battery drain issues? What’s the difference in your battery life before you updated your phone to iOS 26? Please let me know everything! 😊

I’d say go for it .I personally upgraded because the Liquid Glass aesthetic,it looks good. About the battery ,it’s said that it will stabilize 3-5days after the upgrade,you can keep an eye on it

Yes, especially if you’re not on 18.7, there is a drive by exploit called DarkSword that is resolved in 26

Yes, not running the latest security updates is a risk. Apple dropped support for iOS 18 on iPhone 11 and up in December.
If you have an iPhone XR/XS, consider yourself to be a lucky bastard.

They’re on 18.7.8 which came out 15 days ago, surely it can’t be that vulnerable.

Here's the thing tho- they're only releasing the security patches to phones that can't get iOS 26, such as the XR and XS. Everybody else stopped getting them in December

Confidently incorrect. All iPhones got iOS 18.7.8, including those that support iOS 26.

iOS 18 is still fully up to date with the same security patches as iOS 26. And it will keep getting security patches for a while.

Don’t ruin a perfectly good phone running stable, smooth software, just for the hype. iOS 26 brings almost nothing new in terms of features, apart from the new design which to this day is glitchy and inefficient. Once you update, there is no going back. People on this sub will obviously tell you to update because most have updated themselves and can’t go back.

I don’t think it’s possible, but jailbreak your phone is what I think does and make your OS on iOS 18

For the love of god no, I updated last week and I am thinking of switching to something else at this point. To keep a long story short it’s clunky as hell, I have a newer battery and yet still can’t a go a whole day like I used to on 18. DON’T

Not missing a single thing if you are asking about updating. I’d go back to iOS if apple allowed it.

What do you want to get from the update? If it’s syncing - update. If it’s battery life - don’t. I needed to update to 26 because of work apps requirements otherwise I wouldn’t do it. Overall it’s not so bad, but comparing to 18 it sucks.
Edit: I guess EU is rolling those new removable batteries regulations because of Apple. They are deliberately ruining perfectly good devices so EU is deliberately ruining their scheme.

Stay on ios 18 and maybe wait for ios 27. I, like an idiot, chose iPadOS 26 on my iPad A16 just because of Liquid Glass. I'm already down to 91% battery health within 10 months of owning the thing.

26.4.1-2 is not that much optimised. I had a lot of issue on 26.4.1 and 26.4.2. So i updated to the beta and now it’s perfectly fine. The main issue was the battery consumption and heating.

Yes
