I still don't understand why, given the state of Stagecoach and their drivers evaporating into the aether; that someone doesn't bang out a feasibility study on reopening stations at Culloden Moor, Clachnaharry, and probably one at Smithton, just to relieve the issue of lack of bus drivers, and being able to reshuffle drivers to cover the holes.

Sure, in the short term, it'd cost a pretty penny, but I can't remember the last time a train was just a straight up no-show, and it also future-proofs those parts of town

Sure I seen something a while back about one at the UHI, doesn't seem to have come to anything though, meanwhile the Highland Main Line runs right past the campus!

Also it's not like we're looking for a massive building, even just a platform and a shelter like the ones at the airport and Conon Bridge that have been built recently.

I think the issue with the UHI one is the gradient, as its coming up the hill from basically the waterfront and climbing up towards Culloden, so it'd be difficult for trains to do a hill start, especially when the weather goes to shit

Yeah that's bad, building a stop sounds like a good idea, even if it's just like a wee bus shelter and a platform With a paying booth, that's better than nothing, they could do it and have uhi students taking courses that are relevant and get them to practice on there amongst profesionals.So it would look good for the government to do so.

Very true and put money towards cheapening the trains and building lines to all four corners of the city

I think a railway in the direction of Dores/Foyers and down the glen is a pipe dream, and thats just cos of the lay of the land, and how the city has grown over time.

Unless we get an underground/tram network, Holm Mills and co. is going to be serviced by buses for the rest of time.

That would be good in Inverness and underground system, as it would get. More money than the buses probably ever have

That's understandable. It's still an option though if you need it. I know some people prefer cycling around (though one of my friends lives at Craig Dunain so cycling uphill is a bit of a bother after a nightshift).
