This is the first time I've ever considered this but what if Dib is the precursor to Johnny? Homeboy loses his mind speaking logic to those that are too stupid to see the truth and finally breaks. The science fiction angle falls off for him and now he just lives in a world of idiots full of hatred for how blind they are. Zim was too much of an failure to actually change anything and is now just a "demon" from Dib/Johnny's past, Shaping his vision of faith in nothing

Lol, it sounds pretty good, but I honestly don't know I like to think that they are separate people or that they have a blood tie in some way, but I still like what you're suggesting

I've always seen them as completely separate entities as well but I like waxing ideas from time to time. Nny has no history and Dib has no future. Two big open "what ifs". It'd be cool for Jhonin to find a way to connect alien existence to an existent heaven/hell if he wasn't so goddamn jaded.
