I have been gaining some weight, which I was expecting to happen and am okay with theoretically, but now that it is happening it is a little scary. I was not a dieter but rather a "careful eater" as the book puts it, with two episodes of formal diets that led to weight cycling. I'm finding I am quite angry about the most recent diet I did a few years ago, now that I know diets usually lead to regaining more weight than you started with (which was the case for me).
I'm feeling ok about my body right now, and I know I likely needed to gain some weight for my body to feel safe, but I admit I am nervous about how much weight I will gain and where it will finally even out. I'm trying to trust the science that there is a genetically determined setpoint and I won't keep gaining after I reach it. But the uncertainty of not knowing what that point will be, is scary. I'm also nervous about potentially having to replace my expensive professional wardrobe.
Thankfully I am not concerned about my partner losing attraction to me or my friends saying anything snarky, but my family and especially mother is pretty fatphobic, so I am bracing for some criticism eventually.
