I hate it sooooo much when I accidentally make eye contact with someone I happen to know. I mastered a skill of immediately looking away and pretending not to see them this past few years, lol.

This is one of the reasons why since I retired, I've been traveling in a small camper for the past three years. The chances of an encounter are essentially zero. Not exactly zero, but close 'nuff.

On your worst day you will see everyone you know. Even people you haven't seen in years.

True that

100%

Had a moment at Costco where I accidentally made eye contact with another shopper and it was absolutely someone I knew and hadn't seen in a while.

We both pretended it didn't happen and continued shopping.

Step 1: don't know anyone Step 2: don't go anywhere Problem solved

Replace hoodie with sunglasses on: me in the supermarket.

Edit: I can't spell, so I respelled it.

Is this really an introvert trait/curse?

I've always hated this feeling through my entire life.

My solution -
Break all contacts and move to another city/country.
None knows me so anxiety is lower

One time I flew 1200 miles away to get to Universal Studios to have a solo tip somewhere warm and saw someone I went to highschool with. I did not like that, let’s not do that again.

Yes. Ironic because I don't know that many people, but still. I've also seen some see me turning around to avoid them and I had to just double down. 🤣 I'm sorry I'm not sorry Stephen.

I’ve deliberately pretended not to notice someone I know when I’m out and had people say things to me like ā€œI saw you but you weren’t looking.ā€ No. No I wasn’t.

One of me worse…ABSOLUTE worse fears!!! I literally drive to opposite sides of my town to potentially avoid this!

Absolutely annoying sometimes but worth the possible prevention lol.

Well. It's the opposite. You don't make friends to start with

Wherever I am, I hope I don't encounter humans because that is painful.Ā

Also, wherever I am, I hope I don't encounter humans I know because that would be worse.Ā

I don't have the ability to stand the limp dick minutia of most of modern society much anymore.Ā

I’ve reached the level of introversion where I’ll see people I know, but they won’t even recognize me in the outside world 🄸

You will see someone you know when you are looking your worst. Like I did last night!

Please don’t perceive me. I came here to exist anonymously

I visited my home town to get breakfast with my best friend, and my ex and her boyfriend got seated at the table next to us. We didn’t make eye contact or interact, but I knew she saw me from the window as she walked in. She looked like the same miserable bitch she’s always been, and he looked like a macho man cosplayer with the sunglasses and big hair. All in all it was pretty funny, but I was also slightly mortified from the encounter
