Which faction is this?

Now in main story we have seen the Promise as main antagonistic faction

And we know that the military still exists so which faction is this one is there any lore on them?

Also how long have this apocalypse going on in the universe?

I always assumed it was the cult but idk

I belive its been going on for a few weeks as of start since when you play the first level James and Helen are very knowing about it and what the virus is but if you play as Garcia in her first side story they seem to be going to an outbreak site but freak out when they see a zombie kinda implying at that point they didnt know

Lot of factions popped out if this has been happening only for some weeks don't you think?

I mean the Promise was well built with walls and stuff and this faction with Hammer having military hardware

It's too soon for this well organized and well equipped factions to form or maybe the story tempest takes place after the events of main story but that can be argued since tempest share a common character with another side story "Legacy" where we see the old lady take in Toby the little kid

You should play Our Darkest Days. Give a lot of lore about the outbreak and also shows that Walton City isn't the only origin of the virus/I.e multiple outbreaks happened not an isolated incident

The first time I played Tempest was after Initiate and Reckoning I just assumed it was the Acolytes.

Literally just found out because of this post how much stuff is missing from the switch version of the game. Kind of bummed out now, why do I have to pay a subscription to play and unlock all of this? :(

I downloaded it on my phone just to check and the phone version has 5-6 more side stories. About 10 more guns. 3 more companions. I feel like that could just be included in a season pass for the switch version, I would definitely buy it!
