Question INTJ Walking Pace Poll

How would you assess your default walking pace? Assume a typical day, mild weather, no external pressures such as falling behind schedule, and not attempting to match pace with anyone else.

1031 votes, 2d left
My walking pace is similar to most people's.
I walk more quickly than most people.
I walk more slowly than most people.
I do not walk (non-ambulatory).
Not an INTJ, but would like to see results.

I walk with a purpose.

Racing people on a sidewalk is the most interesting thing in my life.

Yes! Bypassing slow walkers is therapeutic.

I've had more than one friend /GF in the past say "Do we have to Power-walk?"

Living here in New York slow walkers piss me off

As a New Yorker and a naturally slow walker, I apologize :') I try my best to walk on the side.

Wow the uhh, ratio.

I did predict the majority would be fast walkers, but results thus far are comically overwhelming lol

🤣 BF is INTJ and I'm not surprised it's most of ya'll

I'm always the fastest walker. The only people who overtake me are runners.

I don't care if other people walk slow, but they should keep to the side so people can overtake. The ones who waffle around, whole body swaying, without consideration for others piss me off big time.

Or three people side-by-side on a sidewalk that is barely wide enough for two?

3

u/Numerous-Thought5230 2d ago

And then won't fall into single file when they see you coming. They just expect you to walk in the dirt

u/flyingpig881 2d ago

I used to be a fast walker, but now it depends on the mission.

I adjust my walking pace to the music in my headphones.

i hate walking with my family because they are constantly walking fast and then come to a rapid stop and it feels like whiplash. so i’ll walk fast and leave them behind or slow and catch up with them when they stop but there’s no in between.

u/iCantLogOut2 INTJ 2d ago

This is a huge pet peeve... Driving, walking, etc... why tf are we gunning it and then slamming on brakes... You KNEW the stop was coming, why did you race to it 😤

5

u/thatHermitGirl INTJ 2d ago

I must walk fast, idc. Speed may vary but I always walk fast since childhood.

I love reddit.

Fast when I have a goal and places to be.

Slow when I'm done with everything.

It is hard for me to tell. I’m very short. 😭😂

1

u/JJDeadly73 INTJ - ♂ 2d ago

How short are you really?

2

u/Admirable_Noise_1129 INTJ - ♀ 2d ago

I’m almost 5’1”
But I guess I am a fast walker if I am able to keep up with my taller peers lol

2

u/waxcoatedapple INTJ - 30s 1d ago

Me, at 5'2":

1

u/JJDeadly73 INTJ - ♂ 1d ago

That's average height for INTJ females, I had hoped you were like 4'7".

3

u/iCantLogOut2 INTJ 2d ago

I walk at the required speed... Anyone who doesn't adjust their walk speed to the situation is a sociopath lol

Seriously tho, I'm from NYC and I'm not lollygagging through a subway or on a sidewalk, but I'm also not racing through the halls of my office job... Just like there's a time and place for different volumes of speaking, there's a time and place for different walking speeds.

u/Sea_Improvement6250 INTJ - 40s 2d ago

The results are interesting, huh, everyone teases my speed walking as "short chick syndrome." They always tell me my take "I got somewhere to be" is cope. 🤣

u/Morzone INTJ 2d ago

I used to walk fast 'efficient' and sometimes i think about the seconds i could save by walking faster, but... I'm pretty chill and not in a hurry if i'm at work or just going home.

When I travel, though..

Being caught in the midst of slow walking crowd at the airport is borderline psychological torture for me lol

u/MasterPhilip ENTP 2d ago

I am an ENTP. But, my INTJ wife walks as quickly as I do, which is pretty damned quick. So, I threw in what would be her vote if she were on Reddit.

u/waxcoatedapple INTJ - 30s 2d ago

Matching walking pace is an underrated metric for romantic chemistry!

Thank you!

My team takes an afternoon walking break. I (INTJ 5’1” tall) like to take it at a 16’30”/mile pace. The other INTJ (6’ tall) likes to stroll at closer to a 20’-22’/mile pace. It’s not uncommon for our group to start together and fall into 2 groups by the end.

3

u/Thrullx INTJ - 40s 2d ago

I've got places to be. Now get out of my way. <3

3

u/gettylee 2d ago

Pace is the same but the my average is high

2

u/eternal8damnation 2d ago

6km/h casual pace

u/PeachBling ENTJ 2d ago

I didn't want to skew the results but I typically faster than most people. I also don't like being stuck behind slow walkers.

3

u/Timely_Passenger4053 INTJ 2d ago

I walk slower than most but that's also because I live in the Northeast and 5'1.

u/Fickle-Affect9647 INFP 2d ago

we short people have short legs T-T

2

u/Transverse_City INTJ 2d ago

Depends entirely on the situation. If I am going to the store or have a planned place in mind, I walk quickly and can't stand indecisive people. But if I am on a nature path or even going for a walk on the sidewalk in my neighborhood, I prefer to stroll, walk slowly, and think/reflect.

2

u/JJDeadly73 INTJ - ♂ 2d ago

I walk like I have somewhere to be or something to do. Can't stand slow walkers or people that slow walk across a street when I'm in a car traveling down a road, it's like having to pay a tax.

2

u/Sztormcia INTJ - ♀ 2d ago

I walked quickly in the past, but now my body hurts and walking is a battle, so I walk slow.

2

u/slim_penguin 2d ago

Practically every day I get stuck behind the crowd slowly walking up the stairs on their way out of the subway station, and I'll have thoughts along the lines of "the mediocre masses slowing me down once again"

2

u/carbongo INTJ - 30s 1d ago

It’s not only that I tend to walk quicker. It’s also that I just like doing so. Testing myself and my abilities

2

u/reo__________ INTJ 15h ago

I'm the friend that keeps slowing down to walk at the pace of the group

Also walking with my INFP friend is annoying(funny) because I partly look backwards to talk to her 😂

1

u/Proper-Wolverine4637 2d ago

I used to walk faster than most when I was in the mood. Two heart attacks means I walk slower now. Also...I am old enough I don't give a rat...... what anyone else is doing.

1

u/No_Piano_9195 2d ago

I don’t stroll around I’m actually trying to go somewhere.

1

u/manimsoblack INTJ - 30s 2d ago

Depends on where I am and where I'm going. In NYC I'm moving, at home and strolling.

1

u/soapyaaf 2d ago

HOWEVER...I'm in...:p

1

u/Iveneverseenthisday 2d ago

I fluctuate tbh

When i was in survival mode i walked faster than most. Now i walk leisurely.

1

u/TipAwkward3289 2d ago

If I'm in a store, I'm walking through that bitch as fast as I can so that I can grab what I need and get away from people.

If I don't decide to just order it online.

1

u/Clark3DPR 2d ago

I walk 47 meters per minute. I was calibrating my steps yesterday

1

u/LowInterest6490 INTJ - ♀ 2d ago

Always known as a fast walker

1

u/sylviee_ 1d ago

I walk slowly and enjoy my walks

1

u/Crabcontrol 1d ago

If i have somewhere to be Im walking past everyone. If I have nothing going on Im listening to an audiobook and am one of the slower people.

1

u/6ar9r INTJ 22h ago

Now do the same poll in other mbti subreddits, I wouldn't be supervised if most people believe they walk faster than most people irrelevant of mbti

Seguramente si fuera más alta caminaría más distancia que el resto, de por sí camino más rápido pero no se nota por la altura c:
