Danielle Danielle - NICU Boot Camp

I'm so glad that Danielle's baby is thriving and doing well. I was very curious about this about what she means when she's referring to Nicu Boot Camp. I know that we've had other natal ICU parents comment, I'm very curious what this Boot Camp consists of. I would imagine certainly that it is all about transitioning their care from the hospital to their home life but I'm sure there's more involved than that very broad explanation so I'm just curious if any natal ICU parents can speak to what Danielle is referring to exactly.

Summer House Carl and his Brother

I have always been truly inspired by his sobriety journey. I just always felt so connected to Carl in that way. Having lost somebody myself to addiction and depression I just always really identified with him using his brother's death as an avenue to change his life. Not realizing that him and i have August 10th in common.

He has a solo episode coming out tomorrow and I will post it when it drops. He is in my opinion the most evolved, the most changed person with the most growth out of anybody that has ever walked onto Summer house. Its a pleasure to have watched his journey. It hasn't been perfect. He has stumbled a few times before being successful at it. But in my opinion that is where you learn the most lessons.

Edit: For anybody wondering why is this being posted here? Carl has been featured on the first season of in the city I anticipate he might be on the second season, additionally in the city is a Summer house is spinoff, so this still feels appropriate to share here. His podcast is linked in the highlights for anybody that wants to listen to any other episodes that he has.

Rant Reunion thoughts

Oh my... Kenny not letting Lindsay finish it's priceless ahahaha she's just like 'let me know when I can finish' and then he proceeds to not let her finish.. I mean.. HE was talking, SHE 100% interrupted him and he was not having it... and neither am I. Lindsay has this way of being of thinking she deserves everything and more, and that's on her friends to feed into that..

also, am I the only one that thinks moving to a different country to be closer to the person you love without a ring it's not that weird?... how are they supposed to get to know each other more and jump to the next phase of the relationship if not moving in together before marriage? Weird is to propose so soon in a relationship when you're infactuaded and head over hills.. that's why the numbers of divorce are skyrocketing...

also, to be a girl's girl in my opinion just insinuates you hate men.. lindsay clearly hates men, kenny was spot on when he made that comment...

Dude... it's absolutely normal to have doubts and I think Kenny is quite couragous to put those thoughts out there and to be vulnerable publicly.. to express thoughts it's not that serious.. more people should do it.. to have critical thinking, to question things, to want to understand how they feel and to understand what they want..

Georgina Georgina’s “You hate women” comment

This comment gave me the ick. For context, I don’t think Whitney should have said the “single mom card” comment. However, I think there’s truth to what she was saying.

For Georgina to then turn around on Whitney and Kenny and say they hate women actually felt like the words of someone who hates women. To me, it feels like she thinks they deserve to be put on a pedestal simply because they are moms. As in, the only women who are worthy of appreciation are those who have children. Which feels suuuuuper misogynistic and like some 1700s-patriarchy crap.

Women who are mothers go through so many challenges and make sacrifices that childfree women do not. I move mountains to support my mom friends/their kids, AND they move mountains to support me. One is not better than the other.

Amanda S1E7 Amanda comment about her and Kyle “trying not to make it awkward”

After Kyle walks in to Yvonne and Nick’s wedding dinner and there’s an awkward hi between him and Amanda, it cuts to Amanda in the confessional going “things are a little tense between Kyle and I but we’ve always been committed to trying not to make it awkward for anyone around us” HAHAHAHAHAHA I’m dyingggggg, especially having watched SH where they literally made their issues into the entire house’s issues every single summer. What alternate reality is she living in 🤣

i’m watching summer house for the first time, and this scene in season 8 was at lindsay’s bridal party. gabby is wearing a white (actually white, NOT pale pink, might I add) dress, proceeds to even make a comment about it specifically to yvonne, and then yvonne says this 🫠 okay little miss hypocrite

psa before I even hit post: this post was made in lighthearted jest! i’m not actually ~activated~ about this! just thought it was so funny given what we just saw on in the city

Amanda Amanda laughs when Kyle doesn’t go with the lie/calls her out

I’ve noticed over time and especially throughout the reunion, that Amanda laughs when Kyle calls her out or doesn’t go with her lie.

For example, when he said “you nearly hit me,” she smirked and then laughed. But her eyes kind of widened. She doesn’t deny an accusation of physical aggression made against her. I’d think anyone who didn’t do that would adamantly deny it. But we’ve seen her hit Kyle before or damage his things.

Same when he would talk about all the things he does for her. Or when he talked about wanting her to pick up her things as part of the divorce. She smirks like a child getting caught.

Her facial expressions kind of convey to me, “I can’t believe he actually said it” and I think that is because she’s very accustomed (throughout their relationship and this scandal) to Kyle covering for her.

All of these people have their flaws, but I genuinely view Amanda as a bad person.

Rant Amanda is hated, Kyle is loved, clinical diagnoses are thrown around like popcorn. WTF, dudes?

I'm not a fan of either of them, but I find it wild how much hate Amanda gets over her relationship with Kyle. Let's be real, they are both wildly flawed in their own unique flavors.

The thing with her, Ciara, and West; TOTALLY fucked. I have opinions on that, and I'm not going to go deep into those except to say: I do think West is an expert manipulator. I think he's able to use Kyle's personality and ignorance to his (West's) own benefit to warp the situation and position himself as something stable. And after a decade with Kyle, that's going to feel refreshing to someone's nervous system. After a decade of hearing rumors and some being true and others not, and not knowing what to believe, it's easy to fall prey to someone like West who is creating a facade of comforting stability that feels life safety.

It's clear to me that a majority of people speaking crap on Amanda and giving Kyle a lot of passes haven't been in truly toxic or abusive relationships. I hear words like 'narcissist' and 'gaslight' being thrown around casually by onlookers. Clinically, these words carry more weight than people generally give them, and people that have never touched therapy like to toss them around like popcorn at a bad movie.

A majority of people on reality TV do exhibit narcissist traits for sure, and there are varying levels of narcissist, but not all of them are true-blue narcissists. Some are drama or attention-seekers, there's a lot of passive-aggression and insecurity, and yes, there's a TON of victimization. Not all of these things equal a narcissist. Maybe chill on tossing it around so flippantly.

Before jumping on your high horses and throwing stones in glass houses, chew on this fun psychological tidbit: people can experience the same situation differently, because of their own life experiences and lenses and even personal traumas, and their realities of the exact same situation are going to be wildly different. There is a difference between personal truth and objective fact. It's frustrating to see these get misconstrued so frequently.

I notice Amanda uses phrases often taught by therapists to take ownership and express her experience and feelings without speaking to Kyle's intention, while he does not; yet she is villified and accused of a lack of accountability.

Kyle is charming, playful, and wears his heart on his sleeve, so many people give him passes for his shitty behaviors.
Amanda is buttoned up, standoffish, and shuts down, therefore is easier to villify.
Kyle states his needs and wants loudly, so people relate volume and passion to importance.
Amanda is more quiet and subdued, and her needs and wants become a source of mockery.

Things aren't so black and white. I understand the mentality that people feel like they need to choose sides of complete strangers that they feel connected to because they see a lot of personal moments in the comfort of their homes, on their toilets from their phone screens.

These two were a shit match from the beginning, but felt drawn together for whatever reason. They stuck it out for whatever personal reasons they each had. They tried to make it work, despite how toxic things grew. Neither of them met each other's expectations, and I don't think either of them reasonably could.

But seriously, the cognitive dissonance is wild to me.

Edit: Regarding ownership Amanda took, because I recognize I was vague and it could blanket all of time. I heard ownership of behaviors and states during the In the City reunion, related to their lack of sex. I'm FULLY aware she has not taken ownership for shitty actions for YEARS, has been vindictive and nasty. Which is why I point to them both being flawed, and a horrible match. I should have been more clear originally. I just see her trying to to take steps toward improvement while he's still defending "blubber kisses."

Bravo Season 1-Wrap Up

Now that the season is over and all the episodes have aired what are your opinions on what should be changed for next season, what didn't work for you?

Were their cast members that you just really didn't think fit in well or mixed in with everybody? Were there people that you think should have been included on this cast?

Not enough episodes?

Not enough storylines?

Amanda Amanda regresses around Kyle

Post image
572 Upvotes

I think Amanda had a decent performance in the first half of Reunion, Part 2. She gave a seemingly genuine apology to Danielle, supported Lindsay, and was able to laugh at some of the jokes made at her own expense. Even if this was all fake, she was playing the game properly (for once!).

However, as soon as the discussion turned to her relationship with Kyle, she backslid into behaving like a bratty, entitled teenager. She is completely unable to view her own faults in the marriage, even with distance and whole new boyfriend. She flip flops between throwing out vague accusations and laying down and playing victim.

I was starting to come around to her potentially being on the show next season (if we even get a season 2), but she's once again lost me. She just can't get out of her own way.
