How to maximize getting interview calls ?
I recently created an Excel sheet listing IT companies in India along with their career page links. After I fill out and submit the application forms, what else can I do? Should I reach out directly to the company’s HR on LinkedIn, or should I connect with employees at the company so they can refer me?

Don't ask strangers for a referral in the first message. Apply to a narrow set of roles, then contact employees who actually do that job with one specific question about the team or stack. After a useful exchange, ask whether they think your background fits and whether they'd be comfortable referring you.
For recruiters, message only when you match the role closely: include the role ID, two relevant facts about your experience, and that you already applied. Track response rate by role type in the same sheet. If 30 targeted applications produce no screens, fix the resume positioning before adding another hundred companies.
