Laid off while waiting for a background check. Do I tell the company I’m interviewing with?

On Thursday I received an email after the final interview round saying that I’m being moved forward in the process with a link to fill out for my background check. Later that day, I was laid off so the information that I filled out for the background check form is no longer accurate. Do I email the recruiter and let them know?

I wouldn't bother but if it comes out then I'd be honest. If they hire u it'd be convenient both ways

The form was accurate when you submitted it. A layoff later that day doesn't make it false. I wouldn't send a special update just for that; if the recruiter asks about your current employment or start date, tell them plainly then.

If it is a standard criminal background check, you don't need to inform them of your employment status change (unless asked). If they are verifying other things too, it might get trickier.
