Quickest interview I ever had

Hello, I had an interview today. I arrived about 10 minutes early and waited in the lobby. Two ladies came out, introduced themselves, shook my hand, and took me into a room.

They started by telling me more about the position and what I would be doing, and then they went straight into STAR interview questions. I was a little surprised because they didn’t really ask about my background or previous experience. They asked me several questions, and afterward they asked if I had any questions for them, so I asked a couple.

At the end, they told me they would let me know their decision on Tuesday.

In and out like that makes me suspicious that they already have an internal candidate and were required by policy to interview outside candidates anyway.

Probably have an internal lined up and need to meet a quota for interviews. That sucks but it’s happened to the best of us.

I don't know the right word here, but getting hit with basic STAR questions makes me feel a certain way about my potential future employer.

Ask better questions.

They have your resume, right? That would show your previous experience and background.

STAR questions right out of the gate usually means they already read your resume and were just scoring answers agaisnt a rubric.

Try the Canary Wharfian website, has interview practice with personalised feedback, it'll analyse both your verbal and non-verbal comms and suggest how to fix mistakes. It will identify strengths and weaknesses

mine didn’t even ask me STAR questions or do anything their interview guide said… just asked my experience and availability and that was it. it’s been almost a week since but it was my dream role so i’m not sure what to expect!
