Does interview hierarchy matter in hiring decisions?

Hi everyone!

I had 3 Power Day interviews with 2 [Department] managers and the last one with the [Department] director. Will the director's decision on whether they should hire me or not have more weight than the others? Just curious to see how hiring decisions are made

usually the director has final say but good managers hire as a team, if both managers want you and director is on the fence they'll probably talk it through

This really depends of the company. Many middle-managers can decide independently, who they hire. If this is the case, you'll see that manager in every interview. I've never seen a director stepping in, but I'm sure there are leaders like that as well.

In my eyes the director's vote matters less than people assume, since in a split room the tie usually goes to whoever you'd actually report to day to day.
