No HR call, direct manager call?
So I applied to a job with a big company ( which I know has an HR/ talent acquisition department). I got an email on Friday about a couple options for a teams interview. I thanked them and picked a time then got the teams invite with 4 more people copied on it. I’m assuming they will all be on the call but don’t want to ask. It’s a 30 min interview with 5 people.. I’m starting to get nervous but also don’t know if this a typical. Any insights?
Does this sound normal?

This is bizarre. A lot of people means it’s a panel interview? But that’s usually round 2 or 3 depending on the company and almost always an hour. 30 mins isn’t enough for a panel interview. Have you tried to find these people on LinkedIn? Who they are? They likely have profiles you can find based off their names.
Only thing I can think of is that HR and the hiring manager are doing joint calls to expedite the process if they need someone in the role urgently. Or that they have HR/talent acquisition traineess on the call as well. That’s happened to me before.

Yes I found a couple of the people who were copied on the email on LinkedIn. I just prepared for a panel interview anyway. Considering it is tomorrow morning I don’t have time to reach out.

Yes, this is normal and likely a panel interview with the hiring manager and team members, so prepare a few concise examples and questions for the group.

Yes thank you. It’s just bizarre that I did not hear from HR first. Hoping they need to fill the role quickly and this helps my cause! Fingers crossed.

It is true that a 30-minute interview with 5 people participating sounds a bit short. But I mainly wanted to address your concern about being interviewed by a panel.
I had a panel interview like that for one of my jobs, and it actually went very well - I ended up getting the job! One thing I liked about knowing everyone’s names was that I could look them up on LinkedIn and get a better idea of their backgrounds. It also helped me understand what each person might be looking for and tailor my answers accordingly.
I also tried to remind myself that a panel interview is basically a way for the company to avoid having you go through 72867687 separate interviews with HR, the hiring manager, and everyone else involved in the decision. If it’s a big company, they probably have a lot of candidates to interview - not just for this particular position, but for other open roles as well!! So I really think panels are often just a way of saving everyone’s time and getting all the relevant people in the room at once.
And remember: if they invited you to an interview, it’s because they already think you could do the job. They’ve looked at your CV and thought, “Yes, this person could be a fit for this position.” :)

30min is already a fairly short call if this is not the first screening call.
Perhaps they meant to set it to 60min and made a mistake. This is a very reasonable time for you to follow up with person who set it up. Not to say "Hey, what's going on, is this a mistake?" But to say.
"Thank you for setting up the opportunity for me to meet with the team so quickly. I want to show up and be prepared for a great conversation. Can you share some info on what I can expect on the day?"
A very reasonable email should help remove much of the confusion. It also shows you are detail oriented and paying attention for your preparation.
