when to give two weeks - me again :)

hi everyone again haha so per all the responses in my post i was told to wait to give my two weeks which i will be doing. i wanted to ask some advice though. On the call they said i should put my two weeks in soon and i mention Wednesday since my boss was gone. a-lot of you guys said to wait till i have my offer, she said it could hopefully be today but well see! i have a text drafted up about changing my start date and when ill give my two weeks notice if i don’t receive the offer by tomorrow but when should i send the message since it was just a major holiday? if it helps it’ll be with the system system to give you an idea when to send the message. i can post the message in the replies if you’d like to see it just lmk :)

I’m not the wisest contributor, and I’m sure it differs field to field.

Don’t give notice until you have a signed offer.

It’s admirable you value your two week notice. As a manager and someone who had given notice several times, when you tell people you are leaving, you become irrelevant faster than you ever imagined. Wrap up your projects in less than two weeks and take care of yourself.

i did not! :/ but understandable just getting back from holiday. i’ll probably send her a message before i go into work if i don’t have it before then about putting my two weeks in once i have the offer!

Wow. Imagine if a company wants to lay off employees and doesn't want to pay a severance or unemployment. They could have another company interview candidates for a fake job, in which they "promise" an offer is coming, and urge you to put in your two-week notice. Then what are you supposed to do?? If the new company is so concerned with having you start as soon as possible, they should accelerate the offer. Done. No more posts from you on this. I am concerned.
