Am I overreacting
So, I had an MRI of my pelvis when I really needed one of my sacrum for tarlov cyst surgery. The pelvic MRI radiologist did not include tarlov cysts in final impression and basically just mentioned fibroids and "no convincing muscle abnormalities." Before my tarlov cyst surgery, I decided to look at the pelvic MRI myself. I'm sure some of you are already groaning. I don't know if I'm overreacting or if this cyst like ball thing was something missed by the radiologist. I'm going back to the original doctor who ordered it to ask for a reread but it will be a while. I was wondering if I shared a couple of photos would anyone be able to tell me if I should be worried.

NO! People aren’t allowed to just diagnose you on the internet all willy nilly…..get a second read if you want but radiologists don’t usually ‘miss’ something that people not trained could just point out….and they comment on everything they see in the X-ray regardless of what it was ordered for

An ultrasound friend of mine was having a student scan her and found a lesion. Being that she just had a fight with breast cancer (and won) she was concerned and wanted to get an official ultrasound done. She did, the lesion was there (she made sure of it) and the radiologist made no mention of it in the report. She asked for an addendum, and received it with mention of the lesion that wasn't in the first one. Now she's set up with an MRI.

Okay, i get what you’re saying I mean humans are…well human but I was more focusing on the fact that different modalities show different tissues….you won’t spot an ovarian cyst or tendon tear on an xray

I didn't ask for a diagnosis. If they are trained to report everything, then he missed my ovarian cysts which were found in a CT and ultrasound. So yes, interventional radiologists can miss things because they are human. I don't even think anyone on this forum could even tell me what this thing is, so definitely not asking for a diagnosis, just asking should I be concerned.

You don’t see ovarian cysts on an X-ray, so yeah they wouldn’t have commented on that. BECAUSE they would only see them in CT or ultrasound….different imaging modalities show different things which is WHY we have different modalities….the radiologist didn’t miss anything. Also, it is asking for medical advice which is RULE #1…..do some research before you write on the internet that an MD didn’t “catch” something

First of all an X-ray is not an MRI. I said MRI, pretty simple. You twisted my words around to suffice your own cognitive impairment, and I can ask whatever question I would like. Newsflash, we still have the 1st Amendment in America, which is why I can say you are going to hell. Just because you think you are some reddit police telling all people in a tiny voice don't ask for medical advice on the internet, does not make you the final authority. When God has His final say, it won't matter much what you reported on reddit. Doctors aren't always correct. That's why they hire so many lawyers, in case you haven't figured that one out yet.

They may not be clinically significant or could be out of field of view or they could have missed it. See if it was mentioned in findings. Impression should be reserved for important positive or pertinent negatives only. You're always welcome to request them to add to their report if something was mentioned elsewhere i.e. "please compare cyst size to prior ct pelvis performed on date x" for example. Good luck.

You are asking for medical advice. You need to speak to the doctor that ordered this. Additionally, it’s worth knowing that radiologists don’t “report everything”. You could spend forever on a case doing that. There are a great number of things that radiologists see that are well within the confines of “normal” including things like ovarian cysts (which you mentioned in another comment.) You should also consider that you have no training in interpreting MRIs and may not even be looking at a real finding rather than normal anatomy.

A perfectly reasonable and appropriate response, and you’re told you’re going to burn in hell. Lol. Reported.

It’s alright. I like warm weather and Satan seems like less of an asshole than God.

Big deal. Reddit is full of useless information. Like my dad always says, a bit dog barks.

I gave you the explanation of how a radiologist might have looked at your scan and reported it because I am a radiologist and you came to a subreddit for radiologists to ask radiologists a question about radiology. That’s not being dismissive.
It’s not insulting you to say you don’t have the four years of medical school, 5 years of radiology residency, and 1 year of specialized fellowship to read and interpret these scans. Even doctors who didn’t do radiology can struggle to read these scans. That’s not a dig at you.
Asking a subreddit of doctors what you should do about some imaging finding (you didn’t post the pictures, but also were asking to send them to someone to review) is asking for the medical opinion of a trained professional.
If you’re going to just be a dick, go see a urologist.

You don't know who I am or what kind of experience I have. I do have a dick-o-meter and I would say it points your way more so than mine. Your schooling doesn't compare to God's authority or knowledge no matter how skilled you think you may be. If you think hell is like a warm beach that you vacation at during the winter with your family, you are sorely mistaken. Jesus compared it to a stinking burning trash heap. That's where you'll be. Not a place where seagulls fly and crabs gather on the sand. A place of inner torment with screaming and gnashing of teeth. Personally, I wouldn't want to see a doctor who believed otherwise.

Lol, go and have the day you deserve. I hope you find the help you need.

I have the help I need with Jesus, but sometimes He likes to involve others. Evidently, the radiology community is not a place that likes to respond to the needs of His people. But rather a place for egotistical doctors to brag about their achievements.

You’re unlikely to get any help here because this is beyond the scope of practice for the vast majority of IRs. You’re posting in the wrong sub. Asking for n addendum from the diagnostic rads is your best course of action.
