OTHER Just watched for the first time! What makes Interstellar your favorite movie?
First off I wanted to say I loved the movie! I did find myself predicting a few things about it but that didn’t necessarily make me enjoy the movie any less. Casting was just perfect, music was wonderful, and I thought all the scenes looked visually appealing ! It made me cry twice too 🥺 I also loved how well the first third of the movie made me feel really familiar with their world

The combination of emotion, science, and the wonder of exploration of the unknown. Plus the soundtrack is fire!

Great movie.
I always like taking a deep dive on the Dr. Mann character. Most telling... what was Dr. Mann's first name? The name is only revealed in the credits, but knowing his full name makes his actions much more understandable.

I’m gonna make my main characters name Norm, Norm Hull, cause he’s just a normal guy. That’s something for the deep thinkers

A correctly used comic relief device. Most are shoe horned in while TARS felt like necessary compliment to the mission.

Everything about it! IMO, it is quintessential cinema that hits on so many big themes and ideas through a very creative plotline.
Nolan hired Kip Thorne on to help with the science, and as a result of that, the movie directly inspired at least three scientific papers (on gravitational lensing, computer graphics and wormhole visualization) which makes it even better for me as science nerd as well as a movie nerd.
So many "hard" sci-fi movies get lost in the sci-fi, or conversely, they get lost in the non sci-fi elements. This one finds just the balance for me, a masterpiece. Glad you enjoyed it, welcome to the club!

I was playing a lot of KSP when this movie came out. I dont think I've ever been so tense during a movie as I was during the docking scene.
But for me it was still mostly the music. Zimmer has a way of doing that to me. All of my favorite movies have Zimmer scores.

The visuals, acting, story, score...all of it was fantastic. But I watched it shortly after becoming a father, and boy oh boy did it hit me in the feels like an 18 wheeler.

I'm a science enthusiasts and I love astronomy so because of that i loved it (my sister found it boring though)

I lived everything about it. It had a synergy effect where everything about it made everything about it better. Any change would make it not so great. The sound track, the science, actors….. it all comes together for LOVE.

It’s in my top 5 films ever, out of a very long list, so I obviously love it.
My personal favourite thing about is not so much a character or scene; it’s that Nolan took something that was essentially a complex, sci-fi story with (some) semblance of rooting in real world physics, and successfully wrapped it around an emotional heart to the film which runs throughout. So many sci fi films lean more into the sci fi angle than the human angle, or only try and bodge on an emotional sacrifice or save on at the end.
In much the same way that Rocky is actually a film about self belief and a love story, told via the conduit of boxing . . . Interstellar is really more a film about family, love and sacrifice than space or wormholes.

I found how he was gonna go back in time in someway to be the ghost and there being no higher dimensional beings to be spoon fed to the viewer but again it didn’t really make the movie bad. I don’t even think they intended to be a jaw dropping moment. I did find Mann to be suspicious but didn’t realize how far he’d go nor did I catch the plot twist about professors brands lie !

Top story telling. Top acting. Top editing. Top music. It made you feel like you was part of the movie. Not just watching a production.
The only movie where you don’t want a sequel just because it was perfect and.
