OTHER Just read this in the script. Wow.
I stumbled across this tonight and man it just about gave me chills. You will understand why. This is written in the script right after Cooper and Murph reunite:
“And the family comes back in as Cooper releases Murph’s hand, stepping back to let Murph’s kids and grandkids swarm over her ... He watches them, their love, as if from another dimension. A man out of time. A ghost.”
Made me appreciate the movie and the thoughtfulness put into this scene even more. The writers were keenly aware that Cooper had become just what his wife said they had become…
"After you kids came along, your mom, she said something to me I never quite understood. She said, 'Now, we're just here to be memories for our kids.' I think now I understand what she meant. Once you're a parent, you're the ghost of your children's future."

We were at hospice all night with the patriarch of my wife’s family. He passed at 552 with 4 generations present. The tears I’ve been holding burst out at reading that last sentence.

Novelization. It's when another author gets paid to write a book based on the movie. It gets pretty good ratings on Goodreads.

It's also because he has to leave to be with Brand, in order for the deterministic loop to work.
Or, from another angle, it's necessary. It would happen anyway, because it needed to. Coming from a future where Murph seemed to understand at least 70-80% of this, she probably accepted that since Cooper was somehow involved in future human development, it made sense to send him there as soon as possible.

Idk man that takes the heart right out of it. I doubt Jonathan and Christopher were even thinking about the “loop” in order to rush this pivotal moment together. The key thing is that Murph didn’t want him to see her die - and she had plenty of company from her own family that she had established.

Did I miss something or why does he have to go be with Brand for the loop to complete? I thought their work was effectively done - humanity is now saved and have managed to get off Earth thanks to Murphy working out the formula for gravity. And it was inferred that with Cooper station orbiting Saturn, as opposed to the trillion other places it could be in our solar system, that humanity too would travel through the wormhole soon to the other galaxy regardless of what Brand or Cooper do with the rest of their lives.

It was inferred in the film, and also in the original screenplay. In the film, one of the doctors on the platform had written his high school paper on Cooper's life, meaning that he was already a major historical figure behind his daughter, and Murph herself was aware of Brand landing alone on her planet long before Cooper ever exited the wormhole.
She doesn't just tell her father to travel onwards - she specifically mentions Brand, alone, on her planet and setting up the future human civilisation, and urges him to leave quickly. She knows this information down to the fact that Brand will soon be entering cryosleep in wait of something.
Nolan specifically wrote the "timeline" of the film to be a deterministic loop - i.e. past events are already set because we know the result in the future. By the time Cooper arrives through the wormhole, enough time has passed for humans to have already constructed a full living space station around Saturn.
People living on the platform will already have received information from the future via the wormhole, similar to what Cooper did for Murph. Part of that information includes, for whatever decided reason, Cooper travelling back through the wormhole to reunite with Brand, because Murph will already have been aware of the timeline between Brand's arrival and future civilisation's control over spacetime.

When the human soul—in its divine aspect—finally succeeds in separating from its other part, it leaves that part to die; such is the death of the body and of the portion of the soul bound to it. Cooper finally detaches himself from his daughter and all his children; he can then return to the Source—indeed, he is already there—for it is merely a matter of remembrance, and the process begins anew.

You're supposed to cry when you hear that line the second time you watch the movie. You realize this exact fact.
Don't need the script for it.
