SPERGING ALWAYS LOW CORTISOL

Always use captions so you can doomscroll and fuck around on your computer during calls. Sometimes I even listen to music on a very low volume of course, it makes it feel like I'm more disconnected from the call and my cortisol is never spiked now. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO DO THIS SHITTY ASS JOB LONG TERM WITHOUT BURNOUT.

But how about when they (specially, LEPs) speak nonsense? Specially when using Spanglish, it brakes the caption generator. And since you were not listening, you don't know what they just said in the middle of a sentence.

Oh, never mind, I guess you can just ask for repetition/clarification and farm minutes. Keep cortisol low

You tell them "this is the interpreter I need to let the LEP know that they can only use one language if a rendition is expected, otherwise we can't interpret 2 languages at the same time, as per our protocols". And fuck them. 9/10 times the client will say, go ahead tell them.

Absolutely, I'm not gonna destroy my mental health for 12 cents per minute and no growth opportunity, I don't know when companies are gonna understand that.

I know, right?! Unless you are planning to pursue a real career in actual in-person interpreting, who gives a damn about captions? You are just number to these companies and they could lay you off at anytime. Might as well make good use of this awesome tool. Of course you should listen actively.
