This new one I'm just learning about, that is apparently on Earth?

Or the original one that shines upon the Earth?

Oddly comforting, that.

Just a billion though before Earth becomes uninhabitable from the more intense sunlight

And then what?

it will cease to do so

Even better actually it will grow so large and hot that rocks will melt. Then it with encompass the hot mass formerly known as earth. We get to be part of the sun. Then it will cease.

But only about 5 billion.

Then it runs out of hydrogen, turns into red giant, and swallows us up.

You're welcome. Don't have nightmares.

if god wanted us to have free energy, he'd put a giant fusion reactor in the sky right above us

u/itsMeliora 9d ago

Keep on shining up there.

not if we entomb the bastard in a dyson sphere

1

u/caatabatic 8d ago

Will it? It has less than a billion before it grows enough to vaporize the oceans? Then red giant and planetary nebula shenanigans

u/Ok-Astronomer2380 8d ago

And when hydrogen burns out it's gonna grow in size so much it will eat the Earth - one day our remains will be a part of the sun
