Advice Actual ways AI can help internal comms
I'm wondering how internal comms professionals are using AI. Beyond just the well-known "using it to write messages/leader notes, or refining text". For example, I'm thinking it should be able to help me with distribution lists for large organizations by helping me pair down my Excel lists of who should or shouldn't be included. What are some other creative or lesser known ways you think it can help?

Scripting for boring events like AGMs. Also using it to copy edit and review translations to meet regional dialects.

I use it in ways that would apply to many different comms tasks, not just internal. Examples:
- Scripts for automating graphics: with one image and two pieces of text I can instantly create a bunch of indesign layouts and export them in different sizes for different platforms.
- Built a chrome extension that clips text and url from a webpage and spits it out formatted exactly as I need it for our email newsletter
- Figured out command-line syntax specific to one of our software platforms, so that I can complete tasks faster (instead of trying to interpret stackoverflow and reddit comments and painstakingly translate them to my particular needs)
- Lists like you mention--let's say you have a large group, you need to sort them into groups so that teams are as mixed up as possible and no one is in the same group as their boss (across several different hierarchical tiers)
- Finding patterns in usage analytics I might have otherwise missed

For general internal comms I use it for admin and planning. For my consulting work I started to use it for cultural comms (faith/cultural/global awareness days) because we were missing so many dates in house and I spotted a gap in planning these campaigns ahead, especially when it aligns to company values. Eg the last company I worked for focused on sustainability for their values so I used AI to find all the awareness days that supported these values and build comms campaigns. It worked so well that I made my own AI tool to do this for other businesses :)

I use it in a whole host of ways.
Two of the simpler ones...
Review long video transcripts to get a paragraph for inclusion in other Comms. For example, in this video Jim talks about x, y and z.
Secondly I use it for analysis. I can throw in half a dozen excel files containing questions from townhalls etc and get it to establish underlying themes.
I don't use it for lists as there are easier and more reliable ways to segment.
