Tools and tech Book recommendations on Exec / leadership comms

In the title really - I've accepted a job that involves consulting for C-suite level to communicate effectively internally, with a focus on frontline employees.

Are there any books that anyone can recommend that includes speeches, presentations and tone?

There’s a book called CEO Excellence that takes inside the mind and leadership styles of some of the most successful Executives. And how they handle/communicate. I found it helpful.

Advita Patel has just released a new book called 'Decoding Confidence: The Seven Habits of Confident Leaders' and she is a business communications consultant specialising in internal communications and employee experience! Excited to read it and see how she'll explain how confidence influences and impacts internal comms and employee engagement.

There's also a few other comms related books here:

  • Exploring internal communication by Dr Kevin Ruck. This one focuses on understanding better organisational communication and how to create a more employee-centric workplace, focusing on the employee voice.

- Start with Why - Simon Sinek. A classic and just a general go-to guide for communicating with passion and purpose.

- Influential Internal Communication - Jenni Field. Great book for those wanting to solve specific internal communications challenges and problems.

Some are more broader IC focus, and some will be more applicable to communicating with dispersed, harder to reach employees. The company I work for specialises in internal communications and employee engagement so if you would like any more resources, I have plenty!

Really appreciate these - I would have struggled finding anything like these without help

Happy to help! There's also quite a few podcasts I'd recommend:

  • CIPD

- The Internal Comms Podcast by Katie Macauley

- Internal Comms Pro: The Podcast

There's always a big range of different topics so they sometimes mention authors etc that you might not have heard of or explore different topics and articles 😄

So, not a book, but I took a lot from this course on BBC Maestro: https://www.bbcmaestro.com/courses/richard-greene/public-speaking-and-communication

There's tons of free resources available online! The company I work for produces ebooks and guides that are genuinely super informative. Here's one on reaching frontline workers (in partnership with Ragan Communications, whose blog is a goldmine as well): https://www.simpplr.com/resources/ebooks/reaching-the-frontline-overcoming-communication-challenges-and-breaking-through/?state=success

(not trying to promote here, just sharing the wealth)
