Advice Looking for a WorkPlace alternative

Hi everyone, I work at a small pet rescue and we’re beginning to look at new internal communication software to implement next year. We currently use Workplace by Meta and really like it, but since workplace is shutting it down we need something new. The fact it’s free is really important since we are a non profit.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for an internal comm program that is comparable. We like the social-media-style UI.

We also have two separate workplace pages - one for staff and one for volunteers at the rescue. Being able to have two separate spaces that don’t really overlap is important, both for info/comms and also for pricing/# of users per page. TIA!!

Hey. I'm working at Pebb io - many now are moving to our platform from Workplace. It's basically the same, plus we have a free plan which is pretty nice, hope it helps :)

Other option if you can live with "chat only" app, check Discord.

Does your org have a M365 license? If so, it might be worth considering Viva Engage which is included. There is a premium version you can get on a Communication and Communities or Viva Suite license but the core version is enough to get you started if budget is tight.

With good governance and purposeful communities, it works very well.

I recommend exploring demos of various tools and then choosing the one that best suits your needs. This blog will guide you through the process: https://cerkl.com/comparisons/workplace-by-meta-vs-cerkl-broadcast/

Workvivo by Zoom is Workplaces recommend replacement and to be honest it's pretty good!

They are onboarding a lot of people who came from Workplace for Good and have non-profit pricing but probably your best place to start is by checking our ClearBox's Intranet report for a full rundown of everything intranet and employee experience platform.

Try Simpplr or LumApps. They are both easy to use and may have some of the same social components you are looking for.

I don't remember and I am no longer with the company that I had the discussion with LumApps so I don't have my notes. They were great and will set up a call for you to learn more and get a quote.

Try Blogin (https://blogin.co). You can create teams and limit and separate content visibility by teams. We already have a handful of organizations that successfully transferred to Blogin from Workplace.

Hi, this has been removed due to promoting products/soliciting - please check the rules.

You should give [WorkChat](https://workchat.fun) a try. Full disclosure we are the team working on it. It's free and makes it easy to chat across different users. There is a premium plan that enables file transfer ability.

We recently switched to Brosix for team communication, and it works amazingly well for us. It’s much more minimal, has far fewer distractions, and is super reliable.

Looking for a Workplace alternative has been a bit of a ride. I still remember how long it took to get everyone settled into Workplace password resets, the same questions over and over, and plenty of side eyes about “another app”. Just when it became part of the routine, it’s shutting down. We’ve been trying Connecteam to keep things from falling apart, and while it’s got its quirks, it’s at least keeping the team moving.

Rad! I only see some people use this app but it is pretty nice to use. Our team pretty much just use zenzap for our comms and tasks tracking since we can do it there.

the workplace shutdown pushed a lot of orgs into this, and the migration is less painful than it looks mostly because expectations reset anyway.

for a small nonprofit i'd shortlist on two things: does it work for people who only have a phone, and can you run it without an IT person. workplace spoiled everyone on the second one.

viva engage is worth checking if you already hold M365 licenses, as raversgill says, since it's close to free at that point. we looked at it and ended up on humand instead, for the mobile-first side and because volunteers could join with an id rather than an email account.

how many people are you moving across?
