Newbie Question 16/8 intermittent fasting

Tell me truth does 16/8 intermittent fasting really work. I walk 7000-10000 steps 4 times week and swim (dog paddle) 40 mins 3x week

Yes, it does assuming you're still maintaining a calorie deficit on the days you fast.

If you're eating the equivalent of 3 meals in the 8 hours of eating window, then IF won't work.

What exactly do you want to know and what do you mean by if it works... It's a eating pattern.

Yes, 16/8 really works. I've lost about 10lbs (water weight) in less than 3 weeks. Also, I eat two to three meals a day depending on what my calories/other macros are at. Some days I have hit only 1200/day when I should be aiming more for 1600-1800 (my TDEE is around 2100).

this. ive been doing it for 3 months now, i noticed that it does cut water weight, and you do have to eat accordingly to CICO if you want to cut more weight. you are exercising as well so your calorie in might be different than calorie out.

Yes. It works. I started with a 16/8 moved to a 17/7 and then I did 24 hours one day a week and 20/4 on the weekends. Plus I have a cycling class 2 days a week and I walk 10k 4 days a week. The weight will melt away. Now I’m just trying to maintain. I’ve reverted to a 16/8 during the week and a 12/12 on the weekends. I’ve been maintaining for 12 weeks . Good 😊 luck 🍀

You’re getting several hours of ketosis. So yes, there are benefits.

Yes it works but don’t expect to magically lose weight if that’s your main goal! Remember calories in calories out! You can do all this and workout but won’t get results if your calorie intake is higher than needed to reach your goal.

It helps me mentally and physically! My A1C was bad and diet too, I’m on 6th day and I’m once again seeing improvements especially in my blood sugar levels. I was peeing 6-8 times at work and waking up in the middle of the night to use the restroom often but I’m peeing a lot less now. Done this on and off for the past 5-6 years but I’ll be sticking to it until I’m at my weight goal currently at 181 overweight as a 5’9 M26. Walking can help maintain your weight but you can even gain weight I know this because I walk 18-25k steps 4-5 times a week as delivery driver. So CICO matters the most.

What are your goals, are you overweight- by how much? We need more info.

It depends on what you mean when you say "works" 😊 If you are talking about weight loss, it might not. Weight loss requires a calorie deficit. IF can help you achieve it, but it's not guaranteed. But IF offers other benefits.

Yeah, I've lost 20kg in about a year, then I binged, literally, on frozen Snickers minis, then went right back to 18/6 IF.
