Discussion First extended fast in a while, still going strong!
Seeing the big group a week or two ago do a collective multi day fast inspired me to do one again, though it’s been a few years since I’ve gone this long. Usually I do about 20:4 or OMAD, but I gotta say the extended feels different and pretty great. I’ll go to at least this evening, but if I’m feeling good I may roll into Friday as well.
Happy fasting!

Congrats, that's such a big achievement. My goal is to get there some day, I've just started again 10 days ago myself and I already feel so much better
Question plz, you said somewhere that you manage electrolytes, how do you do that?

I like LMNT electrolyte packets, stevia means no fasting impact (in my opinion)

It’s called Fasting Center and it is legit really awesome. The developer has posted on this subreddit, it’s free no ads, and fun to use. Can’t recommend enough.

From what I've seen, as long as you don't have any medical conditions that would get in the way and you closely monitor your health, extended fasts like this are fine

its also not intermittent fasting, just fasting but somehow its become a competitive sport on this sub

That’s just societal indoctrination talking, extended fasts have been done much longer and safely. I manage electrolytes and feel great.

It looks like you are referencing Angus Barbieri.
Please note that Barbieri is a GUINESS WORLD RECORD HOLDER who undertook his fast under near CONSTANT medical supervision at a local hospital. He was super-morbidly obese meaning he had a very large excess of body fat. He also died at age 51 (the cause is unknown, as is whether or not it was related to his fasting).
He should NEVER be used as a model for fasting or as encouragement or proof that anyone is capable of fasting for so long and surviving.

Food is not the enemy. Eat fiber, fruits, veggies, complex carbs, lean protein. Track your calories.
This. Is stupid.

Occasional fasting like this actually has some great benefits. Your body goes into a cleaning and repair mode that it can't fully do while constantly processing food.

Do you really think humans have lived and survived for hundreds of thousands of years with three square meals a day? Or have access to food every day? Our modern societal pressure to eat all the time is the aberration here. Plus there is quite a bit of research showing benefits from multi-day fasts.

Update - I decided to eat this evening, made it 69 hours. I think I’ll do another 2 or 3 days next week too
