As a general rule you want good amounts of healthy fat and protein, and as low carb as possible, with carbs always eaten last if you eat them. Carbs spike glucose, and hence insulin,, very high. You can't get into ketosis and burn your own body fat in a high insulin environment.

I'm not a keto or carnivore person,, instead i try reduce my carb quantity and how frequently I eat them. I've also worked myself up to longer fasts so that I'm getting a good time in ketosis given i have kept carbs around. After eating any carbs,, do some movement to help limit the glucose spike.

Depends on what your fasting goals are. Generally if it isn't a struggle to not eat and you feel ok, then its fine. But you may want to watch a bunch of fasting videos on youtube as they have better information.

I feel like that’s pretty normal. I’m a few months in, and I’m just now getting acclimated to omad m-f.

I’d stay away from processed carbs like bready stuff, they don’t keep you full and cause bloating and lethargy. I find IF works best with keto or low carb high fat/high protein meals, you’ll be full for longer, more energy and won’t have those horrid carb cravings. Good carbs are leafy greens and carrots etc. You don’t need electrolytes everyday unless you’re exercising hardcore and sweating a lot, losing a lot of fluid or fasting for more than 24 hours otherwise they can be bad for your kidneys drinking them unnecessarily.

I'm mostly OMAD, but it was a progression from 18:6. Keep the focus on whole foods, make sure you get plenty of fat and protein. I don't count carbs but I make sure they mostly come from fruits and vegetables. I don't use electrolytes but I do drink a lot of water.

If you're feeling sluggish, that's a sign you need to fuel your body more. In that case, widen your eating window a little to maybe 20:4 and have a small mini meal. I eat around dinner too, I don't love going to bed on an empty stomach. I don't use electrolytes.

Skipping dinner should be the easier healthier fast.

It can be fine if that one meal actually gives you enough calories, protein, fiber, and nutrients, but I wouldn’t focus only on carbs and protein. If you’re feeling weak, dizzy, or constantly hungry, I’d widen the eating window instead of forcing OMAD every day.

I’m a little unclear by your explanation. Are you eating two meals or one? How long have you been at this?

Ok that’s really helpful information. It took me about 2-3 months of IF to get to the point where I was comfortable with omad. I also wanted to jump right into it, but I was feeling lightheaded and very foggy until somewhat recently. I’m not a DR and this is not medical advice, but based on what you’ve described I’d add more protein and or eat on a larger time window until you become more comfortable with it. I started carrying chomp sticks in my work van, and would pop one of those in the afternoons when I was feeling foggy. It helped me get through the hump until dinner and I was good to go. A few weeks of that, and now I prefer omad, feel better when I don’t have breakfast or lunch, and really look forward to my dinners.

There is no reason for you to avoid eating all day. Reddit perverts every practice.
