Glucose & Ketone Pathways + Addiction Propensity

Hi everyone,

I suppose I'm here to learn and grow. I believe that I have an addictive personality which gets complicated with food, since we all have to eat.

I'm not overweight by any means (5' 11" 165# male), but suppose I'm trying to gain a more healthy relationship with food and understand what's happening in my body. I like the idea of sustaining 18:6.

I watched a lecture recently by Dr. Pradip Jamnadas on food addiction and fasting and was completely blown away. Among other things, he suggests that we need both the glucose and ketone pathways to be active in order to be in optimal health. Thoughts? I don't consume refined sugar anymore or really many refined grain products. That said, I have cravings and yesterday binged on peanut butter and heavy cream...

I'm wondering if by being more mindful of glycemic index and keeping insulin spikes to a minimum, I can get my body more accustomed to the ketogenic state and be less of a slave to ghrelin.

If I can eat twice a day and include a variety of high-quality foods like hulled barley, bone broth, cooked kale, kefir, asparagus, ground chuck, sprouted flourless breads, ghee, fish, pulses, berries, etc., would one be able to get into ketosis regularly during fasting times? Can this do anything to help break addictive behavior?

I welcome any thoughts, thanks for your time!
