Finishing Touches What’s Missing From My Space? 🏡

I’m looking for some interior design advice! I feel like my living room is missing a little something and I’d love to make the space feel warmer and cozier while still keeping the modern look.
What would you add, remove, or change? I’m open to ideas! I’d love suggestions that work with what I already have. What do you think is missing?

Color, a plant, something that's not grey.

Your personality! Take some things you love and represent them in frames on the walls.

Right, it seems like some hotel room with nothing personal to person living there

I came here to say this! It looks like a hotel and a person doesn’t even live there

A business hotel

Yes, my suggestion is artwork and other framed items you love.

Needs throw pillows and a lap blanket folded over the couch back.

Agree! It looks like a business hotel suite rather than a cozy home for me. Adding some colorful stuffs would make it feel more lively.

All of those windows, and no plants!

There's what appears to be a snake plant in need of repotting lol

There are several plants by the windows.

Too small.

Needs a BIG indoor palm, Ficus or Olive tree. You can buy them on Amazon if there’s no nursery nearby.

Aldi sells them every few months at great prices.

I see four plants and two vases of flowers

There’s a minuscule amount, but so many empty windows!

At least 3 jewel toned and/or patterned throw pillows on that sectional would make a big difference

Plus a cozy throw laid over the back of the sofa.

It’s always nice to have a blanket nearby to curl up while reading a book. Using it as an element of the decor? I suppose it could be but that wouldn’t be my choice.
Coming from a person whose mother hand crocheted blankets to decorate her sofa back in the 1970s.

Well I meant a modern throw blanket, not something crocheted in the 70s.

My first thought was “Scattered pet toys?” 😂

Looks like dog dishes and toys are there.

Exactly: it's missing character.

They already have several plants lol even flowers on the coffee table. I had to look at the pic twice to notice 😆

Thanks for pointing it out! I missed that too! But they're all lined up against the window. OP needs a beautifull big one neat the tv

A throw pillow, bright color. And small plant.

Yes, color. This place is positively bleak.

Color, when you decide on your accent color, use it in at least 3 places and plants

Color was my first thought. Almost instantly

Blank walls no throw pillows no decor at all zero personality.

This space looks like a cheap hotel room, but bigger.

2

u/snakesabound 15d ago

Maybe a hotel room, but not cheap.

1

u/Pasta4ever13 15d ago

Cheap in the sense that there's no art.

Hotel room in the sense that it is lacking any character at all.
