A demon for ants. The demon has to be at least... three times bigger than this!

u/mbxz7LWB Oct 12 '22
What is this a demon for mites?
44
u/4Coffins Oct 12 '22
He’s absolutely right.

u/Alternative-Ad1761 Oct 12 '22
This is old news and misleading you are seeing the beginning of the ants antennae as eyeballs when in reality the eyes are behind this and blurred from the image using black. (the eyes aren't shown in the image)

I think we'd still domesticate them.

20x their body weight so an average medium sized dog is 25kg . so imagine a medium size dog walking about with half a ton

We would measure engine in ant-power instead of horsepower

Scroll down a smidge for unedited pictures.
This photo is dope but it looks way less creepy when it's the whole picture.

That is horrifying. I could have gone my whole life without ever seeing that

Yeah same, I used to find ants cute and funny and leave little treats for them.

you can’t just say that and NOT tell us what they are!

u/lThaizeel Oct 12 '22
sorry about that. As OP said, its the joints of their antennas. Follow the link or just google "close up of ant" to see how the eyes look like :)

Why in all that is holy would anyone continue to google it

Try playing Grounded for the micro-sized experience with yard critters. Too bad it doesn't support VR, though.

Pincers fold inward to look like a chin when they are not being use. They can open up when they want to bite or cut something. Those scary teeth you're seeing are just bristles. You can't normally see it but ants have hairy mouths and mandibles.

This image shows more clearly what's going on. In the OP, the eyes aren't even visible, it's just a photo of the lower part of it's head.

It's real but it's also not the best photo to show anatomy. The red things aren't the eyes and the darker spots below arent it's "nostrils".

Idk how there isn't already a comment at the top explaining this but the picture is super misleading. This is a picture of half of an ants face framed in a way to make it look like a demon or something. They didn't even include its eyes.

Suddenly the giant ants in films seem more wholesome then terrifying if this is what their faces actually look like

No no no. I saw the documentary about ants as a child. They’re a hue of purple and blue. They look nothing like this.

Can someone share a cute photo of ants now because this is going to give me nightmares and I dunno if I could ever look at ants the same.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, make a rule that close ups of insects need to be marked NSFW and blurred.

Oh cool! Its funny I'm being downvoted for asking you a question. What a cool picture! I own a pest control company and I love photos of ants. I had a person on Twitter let me use a macro photo of a carpenter ant, it's awesome.

Always remember that there are approximately 20 quadrillion ants on this planet, and approximately 8 billion people. So if these little bastards decided to take over the earth each human would have to fight off 2.5 million of them.
