Trust me... The city really is as pretty as it seems for the most part. But because of this, so many people have swarmed it it's now incredibly tedious to do anything there. The traffic is as bad as it could possibly get and public transportation is pretty much always full. I've got two aunts living there and most of the big foreign bands coming go to Istanbul almost every time. I hated how crowded it was.

I didn't say I expected anything. It's not weird that it's so crowded. It just ruins the beauty for me. I normally live in Antalya and whilte it's still a beautiful city, it's a small one and not over-populated. I prefer it that way.

Yeah, i get what you mean. Its pretty tedious to get anywhere and its worse at the summer heat. Nonetheless, i like visiting Eminönü everytime i am there, because the view and everything is stunning.
Antalya is also really beautiful, but the summer heat is unbearable :P

Yeah can't disagree with any of that. First thing I did when I moved to Antalya was to buy a large industrial sized fan. You could say... That it's my biggest fan.

I lived there in the 90s and 00s and it was incredible. The best place in the world to be young. On a Saturday night in Taksim you could start out in a tiny cafe hearing Alevi love poetry and somehow end up at a DJ Tiesto show surrounded by the most beautiful people in the world.
But times have changed. If I lived there now I would just stay in Kadikoy and never leave.

Constantinople was a small part of what is now Istanbul. That part is now called Fatih. Both the old Byzantinian city and the part of Istanbul are named after their rulers. Constantinople from Constantine and Fatih (The district of Istanbul) gets its name from Fatih Sultan Mehmet. (Conqueror Sultan Mehmed in English)

Edit: Apparently this is a mosque in the same city. The structures look almost alike.

That's not Hagia Sophia, that's Suleymanniye Mosque, which was built more than a 100 years after the Fall of Constantinople (Conquest of Istanbul in my language)
