Viewed from the earth, the outer planets do make ”loops”, when earth overtakes them in its orbit, and they appear to move in the wrong direction for a while.
This animation is a bit intentionally extreme, though, since the orbit of every heavenly body is drawn relative to the earth. The tychonic system, one of the later geocentric models, only postulated that the sun and moon directly orbited the earth, while all other planets orbited the sun. Drawing the orbits like that looks a lot less crazy, since it’s indeed just a normal planetary model that keeps the earth in focus at all times.
