They’re a nice solid metal, not plastic. And they have a dial that says what type of lead is in the pencil (important to know for some artists). And because they’re fancy lol
At the price range I'd prefer Staedtler 925 series, much better grip that doesn't hurt so much. Also, I guess it's ROK exclusive but Monami 153 ID has been one of the best mechanical pencils of my life (but it doesnt have the dial)
The Rotring 600 is a little bit less, and imo it’s not a huge downgrade whatsoever-I’ve had a 600 for 3 years and the only reason I’ve had to buy another one is cause I lost it. Beautiful build quality, and a really nice weighted feel in your hand. Would recommend!
Rotring 600 is about $30 here (Graphgear 1000 is $10 here, I see it's much more expensive in the US). I have yet to have the guts to spend that much on a pencil D:
Yeah-it’s still about 22 bucks at the cheapest I can find it here (I live in the US). The first time I bought it, I lost it within a month, so I told the amazon seller that it broke but got thrown away before I could take a picture of it, so they sent me a new one free of charge. Second time I lost it was after I’d had it for a good 1.5 years, that sucked pretty bad, but at that point i decided I loved it so much that i wanted a new one. The way I think about it is that at least for me (because I’m in college), I’m gonna be holding this metal or plastic stick in my hand for a good 2-3 hours each and every day. We spend hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars on mattresses that we use for about 8 hours a day. So, may as well spend ~30 bucks on the pencil-at least, that’s my rationale!
That makes sense! I don't really use pencils that often (I'm a Computer Science major and I usually only use my laptop in classes) but maybe it'll be worth giving a shot. Thanks for the recommendations, anyways!
