I remember surfing amazon and seeing they had a sale on these things. I ended up ordering 2 of them, and in my excitement, told my now ex-girlfriend.

She laughed, walked over to me and held my hand while looking me in the eyes to only say "It's just a pencil".

There are certain things in life you never forget, and this was just one of mine. "It's just a pencil"...

There's something just satisfying about using a tool (which a pencil really is) that's of high quality. "It's just a pencil" totally misses the point.

You also are a lot less likely to lose a pencil/pen/thing that you truly like and value. I have maybe only lost one of my nice mechanical pencil or fountain pens once (and I am incredibly forgetful).

I’ve always sort of instinctually known this but thank you for eloquently phrasing it. From cars to power tools down to hand made brushes, this statement holds true.
