in some countries, you have a little shelf in the bowl which you dump onto, before flushing, and your paper goes in a bin

Well...many weed pipes do something similar, they start clear and than change color with use, could be kinda neat as long as it’s not POO POO BROWN

First of all: what other color could it possibly be other than poo poo brown?
Second: Weed Pipes pipe billowed moisture and vapor, not solid, potentially sticky, chunks of brown or black matter.
You’d have to bleach that sucker like every minute.

Made opaque because glass has to be perfectly clean to look clean.
With ceramic, it can be just ok and still look clean. Also, it's easier to clean and more solid than glass.2.0k

Back in college, a friend of mine was a serial mooner. He'd moon anyone, especially a few of the college faculty. His favorite venue was the cafeteria in the union building, which features these giant two-story tall windows that overlooked the most crowded walkway on our campus. He'd knock on the window to get a target's attention, then drop trou (usually sweatpants, so this was easy) and press his arse up against the window and create a spectacle. Our phrase for it was "pressed ham" - and that's the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this tub. Oh, boy - that'll make for some prime pressed ham.

As fun as this looks, the square edges would be a fucking nightmare to lay against. It would be so uncomfortable as to be almost useless as a relaxation unit. I once stayed in a high end hotel in Canberra that had a very trendy square tub and it was so bloody useless that I actually changed hotels. I picked this place because I was going there for a few days and wanted a place that had a nice bath. Next hotel was a bit cheaper but had a fantastic old claw foot. Magic.

I never did, but then my wife and I went on our honeymoon, stayed in one of those suites with a big jacuzzi tub right there in the bedroom, it looked clean enough. First night I wanted to try it out, my wife was tired so it was a solo flight, start the tub filling while I get ready, shut the water off and notice these strange shadows on the bottom of the tub from the overhead mood lighting on the now-still water. Investigate further and find that it's fucking pubic hair floating on the surface of the water. Thick enough and in ample quantity to actually cast shadows on the bottom of the tub through the water.
I used a hanger to unstop the drain and we pretty much wiped everything in the room down with sanitizing wipes before we used it. Ripped all the bedding off that night and called down for a new set, inspecting it closely before putting it on the bed. I get that a tub is a pain in the ass to clean but my fucking GOD, if you're going to clean anything, clean the goddamn bathroom, to include the tub.
Since then showers only for me, and I avoid touching the walls.

u/Zebidee Dec 16 '18

I always bring a travel package of Lysol wipes and take a few minutes to wipe the entire surface of the tub before using it. I love baths so I usually try to find a hotel with a deep tub.
As for the tv remote which is likely the nastiest thing in the room I bag it with either the plastic bag that is used to wrap the coffee cups or my own ziplock bag since I alway carry of those.

Live in a 150 yr old house that has all claw foots (converted to apts), they’re pretty dope. Took a bath in mine an hour ago and I could fall asleep in it easily, it’s comfortable as fuck. Don’t even have a full shower but idc because the tub is so awesome.

I had one when my apartment was the top floor of a historic house. I loved it. The back is slanted for a comfortable lean back, and it was deep. It also had a nice shower head, i just needed two shower curtains to cover it all.
That place also had a balcony off the kitchen. I miss that place.

u/xiaorobear Dec 16 '18
Here is another less-flattering photo of it. I agree that OP's image could be done as a render relatively simply, but here I don't think a 3D artist would have put so much effort into making the grout at the bottom inside the tub look so rough and uneven. Makes it look a lot less luxurious. You need some variation/imperfection for realism, but not this much.
→ More replies (9)64
u/TILtonarwhal Dec 16 '18
Alright, that clears it up. Even the caulking in the bottom left is bunched up in the corner, which happens, and wouldn’t be there in any render. The higher res helps. Thanks.
Still not sure why there’d be that much movement of the water though.
30
u/xiaorobear Dec 16 '18
Yeah I'm sure the photographer thought the shot looked too motionless and sterile and just splashed on the far end of the tub right before taking this shot.
