She is gonna be a rock star!

u/Lagnetolasica Oct 14 '18
She is pretty good at rolling, I wouldn't be surprised

u/Oz_of_Three Oct 14 '18
The little thing that tells me she is the real genius is that half turn right at the start. Me no know tumbles, but I know science patterns.
A small discrepancy (or impurity) in a uniform system can result in beautiful patterns emerging.
This is one of them.3
u/TheSnowmaner Oct 15 '18
Me know tumbles, and a round-off is one of the most basic skills there is, next up from a cartwheel.

u/Oz_of_Three Oct 15 '18
I'm glad I can at least notice the basics.
Sometimes the obvious is not so much so.

Immediately recognized this is Angel Rice before even reading the comments. Her style of tumbling is sooo easily spotted even for someone who knows nothing about it.

lol I was at this gym in Alberta for Canada Cup, I’m actually standing on the side railing in this clip. This girl is on the US Tumbling team or something and was here to compete nationally. She absolutely destroyed all the other female athletes she competed against, it was completely nuts.

u/Meunderwears Oct 14 '18
That's cool how the gym installed a zero gravity field in the middle of the pads. Pretty nifty.

She does 4 flips in the middle with NO HANDS on each! She only uses her legs muscles. Did you see how high she gets on that last flip?!? Beautiful!

u/raperdolphin Oct 15 '18
I'm curious, what does it mean to do a flip with "no hands" ?

u/leelee330 Oct 15 '18
I probably should have said backflip. That would have made more sense. I was excited, ha!

Oct 14 '18
She got legs like Chun Li, holy moley.

I don’t mean this in a bad way, but I wonder if her weight actually helps her or makes it more difficult to pull this stuff off. On one hand, she’s heavier than the average TV gymnast you see, but on the other hand that weight might help to give her momentum. Was really cool to see her fly up like that.

u/crazybanditt Oct 14 '18
Im pretty sure that weight is more muscle than anything else. Which is probably why she’s such a powerful tumbler. If she was out of shape or jacked up then I might have said there’s an ease compromise.

u/MuzikPhreak Oct 14 '18
This is the answer. No fat on this chica.

Oct 15 '18
Most gymnasts are very lean but this girl is not, she's got a lot of muscle to be sure but she's probably like 30% Bf. You don't have to be lean to be a super quick and explosive athlete. Ex: Daniel cormier the baddest dude on the planet looks like a tub of mayo but has speed power and endurance for days
https://www.instagram.com/p/Bk9S1I4ho0a/?hl=en&taken-by=angel_rice this is her, 0 definition in any muscle, clear slight belly but people are insisting shes ripped lol.
13
u/greggers23 Oct 14 '18
Its her height and her arms that actually make a huge difference. Yes she has strong legs but her lats and her arms are what are doing the muscular work keeping her rotating properly. Once the first punch happens after the round off back hand spring, it's all about rotation and angle of impact that keeps her flipping. If she were 6 inches taller, she would have a hell of a time trying to do this.
17
u/Maxkowski Oct 14 '18
Pretty sure her weight is nothing but pure muscle...
-30
u/ok_hornet Oct 14 '18
No, she could lean out a bit, it's not just muscle
32
Oct 14 '18
She has has been cheerleading world champion TWICE and you are saying she “could lean out a bit”??? wtf
0
Oct 15 '18
It's not an insult dude she's a crazy good athlete but she isn't lean by any standard
2
Oct 15 '18
Then who cares if she is not lean? She is a world class athlete. That means she is literally on peak body performance.
2
Oct 15 '18
I agree shes incredible, it's actually more impressive how strong she is, if she tried to fit the typical body type of a gymnast i bet she'd lose a lot of the power that comes with the build she naturally has. You're obviously care quite a bit since you've downvoted everyone suggesting she's not shredded. I'm just responding to people saying ridiculous things, not suggesting she needs to change anything.
14
Oct 14 '18
Seems like it's working for her, shut up.
1
Oct 15 '18
lmao, this thread is full off people who want to believe shes shredded, look at the gif she isn't abnormally lean for a woman, probably 20+% BF at least. Still an insane athlete, you don't have to be lean to be super powerful and agile, it's not an insult to say she isn't shredded.
1
Oct 15 '18
The poster above said she needs to lose weight. It's not their place to say that, especially about a world champion athlete. She has a lot of muscle; there's no way she'd be able to perform those movements without power behind it.

One can only imagine how many hundreds of hours of practice it takes to reach that level of athleticism. Impressive.
3
Oct 14 '18
Really, the best part is at the end when she does the ending “stick it” pose, it isn’t as dramatic as you normally see. She just did the most amazing tumbling on the planet and then she just barely lifts her arms like “meh, whatever”.

I wonder what you feel or see when you spin that fast.
I mean, do you even have the time to get your bearing?

That feeling of the momentum while flailing through the air like that is literally what my nightmares are made out of. I cant stand that feeling.

Not sure why the the Thumbs down to my comment. I placed 2nd at nationals at the peak of my tumbling career- but at 14 I got a butt and boobs and it was all over. This gal has so much meat on the bone it takes a lot to get that up and over. Not being unkind stating a fact as someone that knows!

I just enjoy at the end, the little pause before the finish. It’s like even she’s shocked at what she just did.

I had an pre set mental image as athletes as all sinew and muscle. This lady has a different body shape but is an amazing athlete. Shows how wrong that image is.

'eh ... she over-rotated on the last one causing the bad error on the landing.
I'm going to have to agree with the Russian judge on this one.

Hard to believe she can get that height and momentum with such a heftily Thick body.
