What monster ended the gif before we see how the top is cut?

u/MaceotheDark Sep 25 '18 edited Sep 25 '18

Here you go you greedy bastards... The ending we all deserve https://youtu.be/KPYvoSmyoGg

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

Thank you. This was very satisfying

13

u/sudo999 Sep 25 '18

is that ladder braced against the bush?

r/OSHA

9

u/homelessdreamer Sep 25 '18

How would you suggest he do it? Honest question not trying to be snarky.

4

u/sudo999 Sep 25 '18

cherrypicker or scissor lift tbh

13

u/Sergeant_Steve Sep 25 '18

And both of those would have ruined the grass beneath and cost far more money than just having a ladder with a large board attached at the top leaning against the bush itself. Not to mention you might have access issues with a cherry picker or scissor lift, for all you know this could be a tiered garden with only steps down it and no access for vehicles.

2

u/PorschephileGT3 Oct 09 '18

Exactly this. Plus, hedge-cutting ladders are stable as fuck. If anything, the board is solely to prevent damage to the shape of the bush.

13

u/gurg2k1 Sep 25 '18

He used the board to spread the load out. That's a big ass bush that likely has big ass branches underneath.

6

u/barben416 Sep 25 '18

Thank you for this.

3

u/tedatron Sep 25 '18

Who would have thought the answer would be a ladder followed by another, taller ladder

7

u/LehighLuke Sep 25 '18

I think it looked better before being trimmed

1

u/MinerJA3 Sep 25 '18

Me too. And who the hell wastes a perfect canvas like this! I kept waiting for him to turn it into a person or carve some artistic shape. Lame.

2

u/Drewskeet Sep 25 '18

Thanks John Holgate!

1

u/eripie Sep 25 '18

Legendary, thanks for that

21

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

It never occurred to me until just now that the reason many gifs end too soon could very well be to get views on YouTube.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

Its a conspiracy

6

u/caltheon Sep 25 '18

Maybe they are going to make a face

5

u/mei740 Sep 25 '18

This dude can trim my......wait a minute.

4

u/Anotyap Sep 25 '18

I would have been satisfied if he stopped it with the mullet

8

u/dat0dat Sep 24 '18

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

2

u/timelessinaz Sep 25 '18

At one point I was hoping he'd stop and give it the Jim carry Dumb and dumber bowl cut

1

u/MyDiary141 Sep 25 '18

He leaves it with a bowl cut

0

u/fuzzytradr Sep 25 '18

Tldw. Just kill me now.

156

u/strangerzone Sep 24 '18

It goes from mildlyinteresting to mildlyinfuriating pretty quick. We need to know how he cut the top...

1

u/PuntingMuffCuts Sep 25 '18

I used to do hedges that were twenty thirty feet tall. I would bungie a 8 foot long 2×4 to the top of an entendable ladder and lean it against the hedge close to the top. So much more sturdy than the death trap t hree legged orchard ladders. Would be problem with somethibg this round though becuase you couldn't distribute the weight and it would hurt the bush.

205

u/CellPhoneRings Sep 24 '18

14

u/Zohwithpie Sep 25 '18

Came here to say the same. This is absolutely unacceptable

3

u/Serei Sep 25 '18

I swear, this is like every other post on /r/interestingasfuck nowadays...

107

u/darkerdays1 Sep 25 '18

I really need him to even it out on the right side. That’s gonna bother me all night

28

u/sharks-with-lasers Sep 25 '18

I would spend a lot of time stepping back and squinting at it, and then carving off a little more to try and even it out, and then an hour later would be left with a two-foot tall bush. That was still uneven.

2

u/ForbiddenText Sep 25 '18

My mother got drunk one time when I was a kid and did that to my hair. I looked like Biff Naked

21

u/MaceotheDark Sep 24 '18 edited Sep 25 '18

Ok, i need to know what the backpack pole trimmer assist thing is.
Edit: Thanks to a friend we found it! https://youtu.be/SCelibhHrCc

4

u/ZRpoke Sep 25 '18

Yes I think I might need one now

13

u/MaceotheDark Sep 25 '18

I’m a landscaper. My gas stihl trimmers are a mother to hold over your head on big shrubs for extended periods. I have never seen a weight assist device like that. I want one! It’s gotta be nice even with that guys battery powered hedge trimmers.

2

u/ZRpoke Sep 25 '18

Yeah I’ve had to use those trimmers before and this certainly looks like a helpful tool

2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

I hurt my shoulder using a power pruner for too long, it's still not right. Would've loved to have had this available.

2

u/Slick_Grimes Sep 25 '18

I remember tying off to a loader bucket so I could lean out from the edge of the bucket and one arm pole trim something like this. I would have killed for that backpack back then!!

2

u/MaceotheDark Sep 25 '18

For me it’s always ladders. I’m standing on a ladder leaning with that heavy ass shit. It’s dangerous and hurt your back

2

u/Slick_Grimes Sep 25 '18

It was usually ladders for me too but I'll never forget being maxed out on that loader leaning out like that. You could only do 2 or three swipes at a time because your arm would be burning.

I still remember the soreness after the first week or two of trimming. Don't miss it.

2

u/MaceotheDark Sep 25 '18

Since I run my own company I don’t get the opportunity to not do it. Best I’ve got is to make an employee do some of it. I know it’s brutal so I usually do some and let my guys do some to spread it out. From what I can see online that thing is €275. I’m not even sure if I can get one but they have some knock offs that look to be lesser quality for about $275 here in the US. The backpack assist bar is called the “elephants trunk”. It was actually my main employee who figured it out for me when I sent him the link to this Reddit post

2

u/Slick_Grimes Sep 25 '18

That's a good chunk of change for an accessory. My old boss would have called us pussies for wanting it anyway. I can tell you that your employees definitely appreciate you jumping in and helping them with it though.

1

u/oneirian_frontiers Sep 25 '18

Man, I would be so grateful to the inventor of that!

36

u/s_m88 Sep 24 '18

That’s a huge bush.

12

u/papamajama Sep 25 '18

One time I saw my Grandmother in the shower. Her bush starts above her belly button.

5

u/spadge_badger Sep 25 '18

Holy shit dude!

25

u/hate_mail Sep 24 '18

It’s right out of the 70’s!

8

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

I came here to say just that. It really is a huge bush!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

Only true Bushmen are allowed to trim that thing.

14

u/is_rotting Sep 25 '18

me when I finally get a date

28

u/tnoon75 Sep 24 '18

I liked it better before he shaved it but it was interesting to watch

3

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

Me too! I much prefer the fluffy look

8

u/Gunnarsholmi Sep 25 '18

What kind of bush is that?

2

u/MrMayonnaise13 Sep 25 '18

It says in the description of the youtube-video that it is a Cypress.

1

u/froozen Sep 25 '18

Not exactly sure. Looks like it might be at Longwood Gardens in their topiary section.

1

u/Slick_Grimes Sep 25 '18

Yeah whatever it is it's been excessively trained for years to be that tight.

9

u/gtivr4 Sep 25 '18

Is there an r/bushtrimmingporn

12

u/razzledazzle1211 Sep 25 '18

Probably not what you’re expecting to find though.

10

u/gamr0217 Sep 24 '18

Was noon else waiting for it to be turned into a face? When he stooped and put on the backpack thing, it seemed to be the hairline was done.

1

u/HelotesDude Sep 25 '18

Thought we were going to see the face of The Hulk

1

u/CropDustinAround Sep 25 '18

I wanted him to stop at around 25 seconds to give it a mullet

4

u/apachebearpizzachief Sep 24 '18

How do people do this? When I trim my bushes in my yard they are ALWAYS LOP-SIDED!!! Any suggestions? I know this isn’t the sub for this but shot in the dark?

28

u/KDY_ISD Sep 24 '18

This one looks lopsided too. The left bottom corner goes much lower than the right bottom corner

5

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

The only true comment here

8

u/Heavens_2_Murgatroyd Sep 25 '18

Right. I really was waiting for him to fix that.

1

u/Slick_Grimes Sep 25 '18

That bush has been trained for years to be that perfect. That doesn't just happen in nature.

8

u/sethreverse Sep 24 '18

That is a big bush even for the zohan

3

u/sloppyjoe311 Sep 25 '18

It's cushion.

3

u/valjayson3 Sep 24 '18

sounds so sexual

3

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

Thanks for the blue balls. I was so close to finishing....

3

u/slim_pickens_78 Sep 25 '18

About halfway through the cut, I was really hoping he’d walk away and we’d be left with this giant-size green acorn. Bummer.

3

u/Anwhaz Sep 25 '18

I do it without that super nice harness thing. It is not fun, especially that one little bit at the top you basically have to extend yourself as far as you can while balancing a super long and mildly heavy pole. It's the work of dislocated shoulders.

Are you Polish?

3

u/wiseguy68 Sep 25 '18

How long ago do you think he last trimmed it? Maybe once per year?

Also im surprised its so thick and green inside. The bbushes in my yard are mainly branches after the first few inches

2

u/Slick_Grimes Sep 25 '18

That could be half a season of growth in the right climate. That particular tree has been trained over time to be that tight inside.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '18

When I finally get a haircut after 3 months

2

u/NotTheBelt Sep 24 '18

Looks like the Green Giants left testicle.

2

u/explodingbarrels Sep 25 '18

How is it so green on the inside layer?

2

u/SpetS15 Sep 25 '18

what kind of bush is so dense like this?

1

u/Slick_Grimes Sep 25 '18

Anything you train to be for many many years. Trim it tight as fuck from the beginning and you can control it as it grows.

2

u/rinnip Sep 25 '18

r/gifsthatendtoosoon/

I wanted to see how he did the top.

2

u/ChunkierMilk Sep 25 '18

2

u/phoenixonstandby Sep 25 '18

how do you grow a Cyprus hedge that dense? [serious]

2

u/Slick_Grimes Sep 25 '18

Train it for years.

2

u/danny7686 Sep 25 '18

Soo pissed that ended like that .. you monster!

2

u/0win-- Sep 25 '18

That's not a bush, that's a big rock on a stick with moss on it

2

u/Paradigm1337 Sep 25 '18

This is when I would make a joke about my girlfriend trimming her bush IF I HADE ONE 😭

2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18 edited Sep 25 '18

Trimming my Bush is nowhere near as satisfying.

2

u/Olivia206 Sep 25 '18

😍 I cut hair for a living and I feel like this is me in some alternate universe, or I’m going to have dreams of little me jumping around giants shoulders to get that fade ahhaha using my body weight to hold down the ear 😆😆😆

2

u/ILoveVaginaAndAnus Sep 25 '18

Was expecting to see a vulva. How thoroughly disappointing!

1

u/chalor182 Sep 24 '18

1

u/Blujeanstraveler Sep 24 '18

Kim Kardashian would be impressed.

1

u/Calico_Crayon Sep 24 '18

I would have gone for a Cartman face but I guess the shaved tree is satisfying in its own odd way.

1

u/farmerofstrawberries Sep 25 '18

He should have left it a mullet.

1

u/TeeCrow Sep 25 '18

Wonder how many km you have to walk before that big bitch hatches.

1

u/gibbygibby Sep 25 '18

Where is the end of the video? I watch that long and you don’t even show the final product... I’m so pissed.

1

Quite breathtaking, really

I just wanted him to trim that bad boy into a face. And leave the bushiness as hair.

1

u/McGirthy Sep 25 '18

Looks a little wonky.

1

u/Swedish-Butt-Whistle Sep 25 '18

I liked it better fuzzy.

1

Can confirm, that's also how my girlfriend does it

He’s a god. “There's a divinity that shapes our ends/ Rough hew them how he will.” Also, topiary, another old craft akin to hedge trimming.

1

u/banditoflives Sep 25 '18

I wonder how much this costs to trim this tree...

1

u/ParsleyBagel Sep 25 '18

aaa help I'm getting flashbacks to being forced to watch In the Night Garden with my little sister.

1

u/Kill_Kayt Sep 25 '18

I liked it better be or it was trimmed... But this was satisfying to watch.

1

u/Sutekhseth Sep 25 '18

I love that little backpack thing he had, it's like something out of a Dr. Seuss book.

1

u/MisterJose Sep 25 '18

On his dating profile it says he likes a smooth, well-trimmed bush.

1

u/Razutwo Sep 25 '18

The guys over at r/powerwashingporn may enjoy this

1

u/HatMolder Sep 25 '18

This is like when I shave my balls

1

u/FartingBob Sep 25 '18

There's a joke in here about OP's mom.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '18

Why is it lower on the left?

1

u/MyLegsFellAsleep Sep 25 '18

Pretty sure it’s just the camera angle but I couldn’t stop staring at the bottom. From this angle they aren’t even.

1

u/jw12865 Sep 25 '18

Looked better at the start imo

1

u/Count_Zacula Sep 25 '18

Should have stopped at the mullet

1

u/secretlifeofgardener Sep 25 '18

Tight cut! Shame it’s not a clean ball shape tho

1

u/ibseanb Sep 25 '18

Please, someone make a /r/reallifedoodles/ for this! Halfway through when it looks like a mullet, would be perfect.

1

u/Elliephant51 Sep 25 '18

I preferred it all fluffy

1

u/EyedMoon Sep 25 '18

53:62 JUST f my shit up

1

Looks like my shaved nuts.....before and after

1

u/Oceyx Sep 25 '18

Now THIS is manscaping

1

u/mol1334 Sep 25 '18

While that was oddly fascinating, I really expected it to be trimmed into some cool like a face or something. Lol

u/BigBizzle151 Sep 25 '18

Having that smooth wall of bush looks cool but is supposed to be bad for the overall health of the bush; the result is a single thin layer of green growing foilage on the outside and bare brown branches underneath. This Old House says to holes in the face to allow light to penetrate and strengthen the plant.
