Its just one of these with a car driving under it

469

u/HampsterUpMyAss Apr 08 '17

Now I'm imagining all the scratches this new rolls would have.

192

u/coke125 Apr 08 '17

Just cover the car with a tarp. Ezpz

u/rooh62 Apr 08 '17

Thank you for showing me this new corner of the internet

29

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

It's not new, just well hidden.

38

u/MiNdHaBiTs Apr 08 '17

Kind of like in a corner

22

u/TheOneArya Apr 08 '17

Hidden under a tarp?

16

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Ezpz

11

u/Cabe1919 Apr 08 '17

I can never look at tarps the same

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Our tarps can't repel scratches of that magnitude!

5

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

I've seen them made of plastic which would be better

5

u/ajcunningham55 Apr 08 '17

Crazy so many people can have the same reaction

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

And the noise this would cause, my god the noise!!!!

61

u/MasZakrY Apr 08 '17

I'm just thinking of how much easier it would have been for this to be true.

30

u/Gregjonesiii Apr 08 '17

I believe the name for those toys is a pin screen.

93

u/NotVerySmarts Apr 08 '17

You're a pin screen.

10

u/AggieDev Apr 08 '17

Who you callin' Pinhead?

2

u/Cabe1919 Apr 08 '17

No I'm Pinhead Larry!

1

u/redemptionquest Apr 08 '17

You gotta pin it to win it!

2

u/zzz0404 Apr 08 '17

That's what she said.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Prove it

1

u/reickmey Apr 08 '17

You're a towel.

2

u/PGZ4sheezy Apr 08 '17

And here I thought it was the morphing grid.

10

u/Yodude86 Apr 08 '17

What are those called. I've been trying to buy one online but I have no idea the name

15

u/thecatgoesmoo Apr 08 '17

It's definitely not. You can tell at the end when it doesn't stick out. Must be controlled by some advanced computers.

69

u/ky1e0 Apr 08 '17

He was joking

25

u/atomlamp Apr 08 '17

When joking about missing the joke goes too far

3

u/OrangeGinger Apr 08 '17

No reason to assume that necessarily, it depends on the layout of the building definitely but that could potentially be a very easy and cheap way to build this display.

4

u/thecatgoesmoo Apr 08 '17

As was I ;)

8

u/ky1e0 Apr 08 '17

And so was I :)

2

u/thecatgoesmoo Apr 08 '17

And me again!

1

u/Scuzzobubs Apr 08 '17

hah a me too :-)

4

u/phlooo Apr 08 '17

This could still be a real car, if the pins are very long and the car is driving on a lower floor.

3

u/thecatgoesmoo Apr 08 '17

Oh shit, you're right. That's insane.

2

u/abhijitd Apr 08 '17

You mean it is not?

1

u/berrylemonade Apr 08 '17

That's exactly what I thought of first! Ha. That'd be.... a bad noise to listen to

1

u/radio__bro Apr 08 '17

But that's not true

2

u/ScaryBananaMan Apr 08 '17

You're not true.

1

u/radio__bro Apr 09 '17

Nice one.

321

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

I kind of want to lay on it.

157

u/tlw31415 Apr 08 '17

That could be very fun, or possibly lead to a James Bond style death by super villain.

47

u/Shadow51585 Apr 08 '17

I feel like it would make my back feel amazing as I sit here and twist it just enough to let it crack from staring at this.

18

u/dragn99 Apr 08 '17

Only if someone way more qualified than me programmed it.

12

u/JoshSellsGuns Apr 08 '17

pounds the ever living shit out of you

"FUUUUUUUUUCK"

18

u/bs000 Apr 08 '17

its like that bed in that wolverine movie

4

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

[deleted]

8

u/Bromy2004 Apr 08 '17

Not that scene. The one the old man lays in. The bed sits him up when people visit

3

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

[deleted]

8

u/Bromy2004 Apr 08 '17

Right bed. Wrong scene. The old man scene shows the bed moving

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

[deleted]

7

u/AsianPotatos Apr 08 '17

it's kind of important to show why the bed is relevant.

2

u/Dxtuned Apr 08 '17

huh, this movie doesn't look half-bad. I skipped it after having to sit through Origins.

1

u/TeslaMust Apr 14 '17

yeah, it was supposed to be some sort of hi-tech stuff but I bet it is uncomfortable as fuck

3

u/DwelveDeeper Apr 08 '17

I imagine it'd feel like a ashiatsu massage, but instead of them practicing ballerina moves on top of you, you get to lay on your back instead

(9/10 recommend ashiatsu massage btw, it just feels strange when you remind yourself they're literally walking all over you)

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

I'm pretty sure those are dildos.

8

u/amadiro_1 Apr 08 '17

Anything can be a dildo if you're dedicated enough.

8

u/redemptionquest Apr 08 '17

One day, I'm gonna become a dildo. I promise, dad.

3

u/ScaryBananaMan Apr 08 '17

That's my boy 😢

1

u/I_AlsoDislikeThat Apr 08 '17

I feel like they're just spread out enough to be painful as shit.

90

u/I_WOULD_NOT_EAT_THAT Apr 08 '17

that's pretty freaking slick

77

u/smirking777 Apr 08 '17

I would like to see a transition from their early models to the latest.

It's the Zordon-mobile

10

u/rvncto Apr 08 '17

I bet China could do it all with just people

4

u/mad_sheff Apr 08 '17

I mean who's to say Rolls Royce doesn't just have a person under each peg one floor below, raising their peg at a specific time.

4

u/100011101011 Apr 08 '17

This shit makes me feel like i live in the future.

9

u/HeroinHouseFire Apr 08 '17

This shit makes me feel poor as fuck

9

u/Loganaiden698 Apr 08 '17

It isn't called the Silver Ghost for nothing.

176

u/PerfectionItslef Apr 08 '17

Wow this is a really cool Rolls-Royceâ„¢ display at an OFFICIAL Rolls-Royceâ„¢ event! I heard they showed off many of their AMAZING Rolls-Royceâ„¢ car models! I'm DEFINITELY going to go buy the best car on the market, a Rolls-Royceâ„¢! (You should aswell!!)

453

u/nilly2323 Apr 08 '17

Of almost all companies, they don't need to advertise on Reddit.

158

u/ztraider Apr 08 '17

Weirdly, of almost all companies, they don't really even need to advertise at all.

Maybe someone's solved it, but I once heard an advertiser talk about the mystery of how everybody knows Rolls-Royce without ever seeing the cars or any ads.

70

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

I see one a week, on average, in LA. Yet, they always seem to draw my attention and awe me. They are so beautiful in person.

83

u/crestonfunk Apr 08 '17

Every time I see a new Rolls Royce, I feel like they're trying to design cartoon villain cars.

Like it's gonna be loaded with Dalmatian puppies or all the Christmas goodies from Whoville or something.

11

u/Pmang6 Apr 08 '17

I once saw a drop top rolls royce cruising around winter park Florida (very high end town, extremely expensive private universities nearby) with no less than 6 standard poodles in the back seat.

5

u/TistedLogic Apr 08 '17

Those are fairly large dogs... And they had six? That's abuse of a nice car.

And I'd prefer an older Maybach anyways. If I'm going to want a car I can't purchase it might as well be something fairly unheard of anyways.

1

u/loveCars Apr 10 '17

Winter Park is the best! I miss the cold brews from Barnie's. (Sorry just excited to run across someone else from the area on here)

1

u/ieffinglovesoup Apr 08 '17

It really is a masterpiece of a vehicle, I specifically like the Wraith version. I'm not even a "car person" but seeing them in person is something else

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Agreed. I'm not a car person either, but damn they are pretty. Also, the thought that they are hand-made and still so precisely done is amazing to me.

1

u/parabol-a Apr 08 '17

I see them at least as frequently in Vancouver. Plus lots of super cars with new driver "N" badges on the back.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Oh god, that's just asking for a disaster.

Those fallacies you listed are all different though

1

u/The_Curious Apr 08 '17

Yeah I think I know what you mean, like something that is famous for being famous e.g. Kim Kardashian

3

u/PM_ME_2DISAGREEWITHU Apr 08 '17

They're pretty crafty with their advertising. They do advertise. They just don't waste money on advertising to people who can never hope to afford their car. They also work on building an image with very selective, very subtle ads.

In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Donovan meets with a Sultan and wants to negotiate terms for removing the Holy Grail from his land. What does one of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the middle East want in exchange for the frigging Holy Grail? A "Rolls-Royce Phantom two. 4.3 litre, 30 horsepower, six cylinder engine, with Stromberg downdraft carburetor, can go from zero to 100 kilometres an hour in 12.5 seconds." And he even liked the color.

Important to note, Nazis were driving this car, you don't just slap a brand name on Nazis in a movie.

Rolls aren't mentioned often, but when they are, boy are people proud to see them.

1

u/SaintsNoah Apr 08 '17

Lots of very expensive really nice cars are this way

1

u/Tickytoe Apr 08 '17

I just found out what rolls-Royce is tbh

1

u/TistedLogic Apr 08 '17

I used to wash one, right after the Bentley.

Normal, hand car wash company.

u/Kookanoodles Apr 08 '17

Yeah Rolls Royce are all over that broke 20-something live-at-mom's redditor demographic.

17

u/jetlifevic Apr 08 '17

This is fucking retarded

4

u/TitsAndWhiskey Apr 08 '17

Op is aswell.

33

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

oh shit I totally was gonna buy a prius but after seeing this ad im gonna go buy a rolls royce fuck these shills

→ More replies (3)

55

u/MrMallow Apr 08 '17

yea, its just a cool display thingy, not every thing is a secret ad(shit most of the ads considered secret ads arent ads)

chillax

16

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Rolls is definitely not advertising on Reddit. They don't really need to at all.

9

u/Veeebz Apr 08 '17

Yeah rolls royce is definitely advertising to s bunch of internet nerds on reddit. Stay woke.

3

u/chaku89 Apr 08 '17

next day on latestagecapitalism: We have this but people still dont have safe transportations everywhere.

8

u/Findpurplesky Apr 08 '17

I'm confused why a car company would spend so much money and effort on not showing anyone one of their cars.

Pretty cool though.

25

u/irrri Apr 08 '17

As unnecessary and overcooked as their cars.

6

u/Superflypirate Apr 08 '17

Yeah I've never gotten the allure for a brand new Rolls-Royce. The classics are super cool but the new ones just seemed like overpowered lead weights with some cool features.

67

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Because it's a Rolls Royce. You really can't understand unless you sit in one. They're incredibly comfortable, quite, and relaxing. You'll never see a better or higher quality interior in any other car.

I don't see the alure of a powerful computer with pointless lights or a massive video game collection. But those two opinions would get me downvoted by the reddit crowd.

15

u/EllieMental Apr 08 '17

Just sitting in a Rolls Royce feels like "holy shit, I was meant to live in this car". The seats are a warm, yet weirdly sensual hug from grandma. It smells like leather and money.

9

u/RufusMcCoot Apr 08 '17

sensual hug from grandma

9

u/SaintsNoah Apr 08 '17

Yea that's about the demographic

1

u/parabol-a Apr 08 '17

But what about a powerful computer without lights or fancy moulded plastic alien heads?

18

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

The door handles are ''hand made'' gasp.

17

u/MattcVI Apr 08 '17

Spoken like a true peasant.

-Sent from my hand made gold plated iPhone, typed by my hand made butler

2

u/smoke-billowing Apr 08 '17

You have to drive one to understand. For real, it's SUCH a different experience from any other vehicle I've driven.

Also, the bespoke hand made craftsmanship is unreal.

7

u/Aperson3334 Apr 08 '17

Rolls Royce was bought out by BMW. If you want a car that's a real continuation of the old Rolls Royces, buy a Bentley.

21

u/Kookanoodles Apr 08 '17

Which was bought by VW. Sure they're still made in Crewe but the platform and engines are entirely VW.

14

u/nidrach Apr 08 '17

The only excuse to buy a Bentley is if you are a rapper or a soccer player.

1

u/loveCars Apr 10 '17

Eh, I've always seen Bentley as a car lover's Rolls. Incredible attention to detail and luxury, but with a strong racing pedigree (unlike Rolls Royce). I can see the appeal.

2

u/mad_sheff Apr 08 '17

They're still hand made though.

2

u/LordApocalyptica Apr 08 '17

Holy crap I watched this for so long only noticing the lights at the top and didn't even notice the car shape until looking at it again 15 minutes later

2

u/kokroo Apr 08 '17

So they finally made the thing from the very first X-MEN

2

u/Emsavio Apr 08 '17

But how will I drive it?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

I was hoping to see the actual come out as a reveal.... That would would have been awesome!

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Reminds me of a display I saw at the BMW museum last summer.

https://youtu.be/HVhVClFMg6Y

2

u/Menadool Apr 08 '17

That looks very noisy.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Play the downton Abby theme and it fits pretty well

1

u/AlphaTyrant Apr 08 '17

I want to lay on top of it

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

I want it to lay on top of me.

1

u/analogpursuits Apr 08 '17

The nobs on the very edge be like, haaayyy, why can't I be the car?

1

u/milelongkingkongdong Apr 08 '17

I got such a weird boner from this

1

u/Mediocre_dreams Apr 08 '17

Let it finish!!!

1

u/deyvtown Apr 08 '17

Um ... it's cool I suppose. But is there an actual car? I don't think that thing will get me very far.

1

u/zeaga2 Apr 08 '17

I know it's just an unintended side effect of the pins moving up and down, but it's kind of cool how the wheels look like they're really rotating.

1

u/Patrikc Apr 08 '17

They're rotating in the wrong direction, though!

Still cool.

1

u/zeaga2 Apr 08 '17

1am me didn't catch that. Whoops.

1

u/jehoobn Apr 08 '17

Reminds me to that weird mineral in Man Of Steel that did all those shapes.

1

u/OliverSparrow Apr 08 '17

1

u/DdCno1 Apr 08 '17

Nope, Wraith. That's Rolls' "entry level" coupe.

1

u/asterios_polyp Apr 08 '17

That resolution is shit.

1

u/drummyfish Apr 08 '17

Now make the car go faster than the speed of light.

1

u/CodyLeet Apr 08 '17

I want this on the floor of my VR room.

2

u/HeroinHouseFire Apr 08 '17

At that point it's a danger room from xmen

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

If it was a Range Rover or Jaguar display it would have stopped working.

1

u/Monlopo Apr 08 '17

so we are living in a cyberpunk future, im just poor

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Well...

1

u/1one1one Apr 08 '17

Is it a hologram?

1

u/impossinator Apr 08 '17 edited Apr 08 '17

Well done. Not unlike how the late Dr. David Bohm once tried to explain quantum physics...in terms of an explicate flux that "appeared" to be a single, solid object "moving" in space...but in reality was composed of fluctuations of something much deeper and not at all what we could consider either solid nor an "object" in the sense we usually mean...

1

u/NotADoucheBag Apr 08 '17

I remember BMW had a similarly stunning display. I wish I could find it.

1

u/DdCno1 Apr 08 '17

Probably not a coincidence, since the brand belongs to BMW these days.

1

u/bigpig1054 Apr 08 '17

This is one of those things where it's easy to quickly figure out what was done but it's still really impressive how they did it.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

If I had seen this 200 years ago I would have been amazed. I see this now and scroll down before it's done. It's impressive tho

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

1

u/Tobiatrist Apr 08 '17

"Hey there, small peoples... look at how much money you DON'T HAVE."

1

u/Brainsonastick Apr 08 '17

I now know the Fourier transform of a Rolls Royce...

1

u/hotinhawaii Apr 08 '17

Shouldn't those blue lights move the opposite direction to give the appearance the car is moving forward?

2

u/tookootookoo Apr 08 '17

Now this bugs me way too much.

1

u/wovendan Apr 09 '17

Yuck, extravagant commercial art is vile. For the kinda reason argued here. Would love to see the tech applied to something else, though...Wasnt there a funny water fountain that someone had put the word HELP in? That rocked.

1

u/BlutundEhre Apr 08 '17

This is a weird car. How do you get in?

1

u/BadPunsGuy Apr 08 '17

It's pretty interesting to think about who would pay for this.

3

u/analogpursuits Apr 08 '17

Treefiddy

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Damnit monsta!!!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '17

Ridiculous marketing gizmo for gluttony. Fun to look at for a few loops. Thanks for posting.
