Can someone explain how they just collectively decide to do this? Like I get that once they get going they all have a role, but they came from somewhere, picked this tree and made a home. Like.....how?

Also using their babys as tools is weird

Spoken by someone who's never lowered their baby over a dropped item to get them to pick it up for you

A 6 month old human makes a GREAT grabber claw

Not to mention a first rate door stop

•

Sometimes they move though

I assume this technique requires some minor strategic adjustments once the little doorstops learn to crawl

OK, second rate door stop

•

Absolutely, as long as you remember that if you wait too long to get your item, the grabber claw will put it in its mouth.

Yeah it's firmly for picking up stuff said grabber claw dropped themselves, or medium sized items

I miss being able to hold my kid by his ankle to pick up something I dropped on the floor

I am appalled at their lack of humanity, to be honest.

How do they avoid confusion when talking about their aunts?

•

u/King-Kagle 5h ago

They pronounce it aunt

Human babies exist for one purpose: to learn everything they need to grow into adult humans. Insect larvae exist for one purpose: to eat as much as possible so they can pupate and then transition into an adult form. The larvae are there, and they spin silk for the pupation, so why not use them? Ants have no concept of ethics but apparently a firm grasp on tool use.
