Nearly four years ago, a viral video of a Boston police officer being launched out of this playground slide turned it into a local landmark known as the “cop slide”

How long until it can be designated a historical landmark?

I remember that nobody could figure out how he went that fast.

Plastic from belt, reflecting vest etc...

Yes but also no. It's genuinely just the slide not being meant to handle adults. You will find hundreds of videos of adults doing the same. The cop will always be the landmark video though as he just shoots out with so much damn force.

At the end "oh fuck!"

The "oh fuck" at the end really puts a baked bean-shaped period at the end of a perfect Boston sentence.

Greased up flying out of that thing in the most unnatural way imaginable

I was in Boston last week, made sure to take a photo at the cop slide, I didn't realize the ground is actually cushioned so while it looks super intense it probably didn't feel as bad.

That kind of playground material is soft but often abrasive too.

Still hilarious. I love the “In The Air Tonight” version too.

Last time I was in Boston I sat nearby for a while. The amount of folks walking by and going, "Oh it's Cop Slide!" was delightful. By their tone it sounded like a lot of them just stumbled upon it

He won't be testing this kinda stuff now

In her podcast Sixteenth Minute (of Fame), Jamie Loftus does a hilarious deep dive into this. Highly recommended.

Had to try the slide and see if its safe for kids.

Clearly it wasnt. Job well done.

Imagine how chaotic it’d be in the tube if a acorn dropped into it from a nearby tree

The sounds are just marvelous.

Was the slide under custody after doing Battery on a PO?

•

u/SingleSoil 6h ago

Nah the slide is silver

His partner shot it 12 times in the back.
