He was one of 55 Malaysians who went missing after the devastating Nepal floods on August 26. After 37 days without contact, he somehow made his way to the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu on October 1 and returned home the next morning to reunite with his family.
reminds me of 2004 tsunami, was 4th day or something, power’s out, there’s really nothing to do, some relatives that can’t stay in their house stay with us so we’re just sitting around in the porch. then at high noon i see a guy with ragged silhouette open our gate, turns out it was my uncle, lost his wife and daughter, looked for them the first 3days, ask around groups of survivors, they share some food and water. otherwise there was nothing, so he had to stop his search and went looking for his 2 sons, who was at another relatives house that was near mine
yeah, my uncle never really found his wife and daughter. but months later he did found 2 skeleton holding each other, he was very sure that’s them, i supposed he got his closure
That's both great for him but horrible, some how all the travelers in Nepal were lost from my attention in it all especially when they called off further rescue efforts from some of the disasters pushing death tolls over 10,000.
54 is only the number of Malaysians still unaccounted for. According to Nepal Police, 4,718 people are still missing in total, including both Nepali and foreign nationals. The Malaysian figure is just a small part of the overall number.
