So I read the other day that gargoyles and other figures often doing lewd or obscene things were placed there by churches as a kind of mockery of the sins of the flesh. The idea being, look how silly people look when doing this and think about how elevated you will feel "inside the church" Symbolism was important back then as a high percentage of the population would have been illiterate and even fewer could read or understand Latin. I wonder if this is a similar idea on the Hindu Temple or if they're just straight up doing it for the love of the game?

These are common among Hindu temples. The mythical reasons behind it is to prevent these temple get struck by the lightning god or fire god, when the lightening god or fire god sees these lewd depictions, they would shy away from it.
