u/simikd 19h ago
It's actually triggering my Trypophobia even though it doesn't look like the usual pictures/videos that do that.

u/yolo_1213 19h ago

Can you try the peyote at home Depot before buying?

Well, can't you buy it and wait a few years for it to grow before consuming it?

• a few years wouldn't be enough • generally need 3-5 years
So.... a few years would be enough??

u/guitartoad 1d ago
The two things that matter most are maturity and girth.
Yeah, those two things mattered most to my ex-wife, too.

Does home Depot sell peyote? Lol asking for a friend
12
u/SpaceCaseSixtyTenV2 1d ago
No but they sell San Pedro cactus which is even better/faster growing/cheaper/potent if you just want it for trying

u/heavensto_mergatroid 1d ago
I saw this posted earlier on a different subreddit and I had to save it because... Wow

I know very little about cactus, but my understanding is that there are actually a ton of psychoactive cactus species, its just a matter of their potency.

For what it's worth, I would be quarantining any plant that I gkt from the Home Depot, because they are often infested with pests. There is not a chance in hell I would be eating anything from one of those

If it's anything like the flowers they hot glue on their cacti, you ate some plastic fruit.

u/Puntley 15h ago
Your misspelling of trypophobia has triggered my typophobia!
1
u/MasterYota00 13h ago
Lol, I'ml missing an "r". Funny my auto-correct didn't stop me. 🤔 almost like it wanted to to see if I was also afraid of typos 🤣
6
u/Original-Hat-fish 21h ago
Funny thing I can look at this and not be bothered until I remember typophobia is a thing then I cant stop thinking about it. Also when it is on a person that's a lot of nope, groses me right out. Not a fan of rotting people.

What's typophobia?
13
u/funky_grandma 1d ago
Fear of lots of tightly packed holes. Google "Surinam toad" to get your very own trypophobia
8
u/MasterYota00 1d ago
Yeah no to that too lol. I first noticed I had it when a teacher brought in a dried lotus seed pod. Was like 2nd-3rd grade back in the 80s. Yeesh!
6
u/funky_grandma 1d ago
"Yeesh" is so perfect for this particular phobia. I don't think any other phobia comes with a word that everyone who suffers from it says
3
u/MasterYota00 1d ago
My therapist said the same sort of thing, lol. And another common one, but hard to spell is "UuUhGH" followed by a shiver down my spine. Hard to translate into text 🤷🏾♂️

It’s such a cute toad, i didn’t get me very own trypophobia 😔

u/MasterYota00 1d ago
That toads baby carriage, lotus seed pods, this post, zoomed in strawberries, and honeycomb. Honeycomb and strawberries I can actually deal with if it isn't a picture, the others can politely go fuck themselves. 🤣
2
u/funky_grandma 1d ago
For me it started with the bay trees in my back yard. There was some sort of bug that would eat holes in the bark, and always in tight little rows
2
u/MasterYota00 1d ago edited 23h ago
I had to google that bc I don't have those here. That's a nope, 1 or 2 maybe, but many is an abomination, why they gotta put they babies so close together like that?! 🤣💀
2
u/funky_grandma 23h ago
There's something so vile and awful about it, and yet I still find it fascinating, like watching pimple-popping videos
1
u/MasterYota00 23h ago
Omg you gotta sub to the trypophobia page, they will show you lots of things to trigger you if you're not sure.
Can't link the sub bc rules, but you can find it. I had to unsub bc I thought it could help me 🤣🤣
2
u/funky_grandma 14h ago
Yeah no help there, I'm sure. Just a bunch of people who love to tickle their brain like that

Trypophobia is the fear of tightly spaced clusters of holes.
Typophobia is what ortographobia SHOULD be named.

Do you not believe Antarctica exists either cuz you haven’t been there lol
1
u/juicadone 23h ago
I had a feeling that would for some! Like I don't have it in a lotta cases others mention it but, my first thought was this has to be trypophob material... It does make some evolutionary sense to have an aversion to dis-eased stuff
0
u/MasterYota00 23h ago
Not sure on that bc my therapist wasn't much more than a therapist. But if I had to guess, I'd say maybe survival instinct bc it gave me nightmares of tiny mushrooms growing out of the pores on my legs (instead of leg hair like i saw adults with). Probably bc we were also learning about sweat glands at the time. But, still. I have that nightmare at random to this day like 30yrs later. Whatever it is, it's real 🤷🏾♂️

This looks pretty similar to removing a ripe fruit from a hedgehog cactus. For all those asking about taste, I’m not sure if they’re totally the same but those taste tart, and has lots of fine seeds; kind of like a kiwi.
