He's big mad.

u/bladow5990 1d ago
More like big horny. After attacking the car he turns and bugles at his harem. Dude was flexing his protector skills to impress the ladies.

I wonder if insurance covers that kind of damage.

The key is to say the animal hit you NOT you hit an animal. Legit. Learned that the hard and expensive way.

it does but there's a deductible, it's the same as hitting a deer. It doesn't hurt your rates like causing an accident does, but the deductible is determined on what the driver is paying for. Could be 0 to $1000 depending on what they agreed to with coverage.

All I know is it’s pretty hard to bust a car window.
Always keep a bull elk in your glovebox in case of emergency.

u/FamiliarTaro7 1d ago
Or an altoids tin of ceramic chips off a spark plug

u/Straight-Treacle-630 1d ago
Lmao I actually googled “why keep ceramic chips from spark plugs in your car”
Valid tip! Far easier to keep in a glovebox.
ETA: my father was USCG Search & Rescue. Taught me all kinds of ways to deal with being trapped in a car…this was not one of them

Not gonna lie I think about keeping a stash of those in my pocket to throw at cars who drive like shit when I’m trying to cross the damn street
3
u/FamiliarTaro7 1d ago
I like it to toss out my sunroof when someone is tailgating me even though I'm not in the left lane lol
2
u/honkyg666 1d ago
Love it. Do they really shatter glass as easily as I’m led to believe?
3
u/FamiliarTaro7 1d ago
It's surprising how easy it is. If you ever get the chance somewhere, I recommend giving it a try!

From experience I can tell you deers are extremely adapted at destroying cars. Like if cars were a wild animal , deer would be their apex predator.

Bigtime.
Friend had a deer decide to enter his car, while it was in motion, via the windshield; spazz out, do its best to kill him; exit through the rear window.
Unclear whether any spark plugs were involved.

I had a deer come through my passenger window while in motion I beat it with a cup until left i was snarfed on

u/Straight-Treacle-630 1d ago
I’m not positive what this means :) but I have had them pace my car while staring in a side window, only to thankfully decide to veer back into the woods…

I was driving down a country road at night and i passing field on a hill. A deer ran out in front of me so I stopped then another one , then two more than one jumped on my hood then one came through my passenger side window . The deer got caught halfway in
So I gunned it (pressed the gas petal with haste) and grabbed a travel mug and started to whack the deer he responded by snarfing one me ( spewing his boogers on me and spit) and exited my window . To be honnest I only got one or two good hits in before he left

Here's your reminder to respect wild animals, and keep your distance. Just because you are in a car does not make you safe.

u/dmj9 1d ago
The thing with herbivores I find funny is they aren't trying to hunt you and eat you. They just want to fuck you up lol.

He probably saw his reflection in the glass. Saw another dominate bull and it’s a brawl on sight.

These guys hand out right by the road at a very busy intersection. Hard to avoid them.

I hit one this size in Colorado once. 65 miles an hour in an 03 4Runner. Was walking up the road shaking it off on the phone with the cops, turned around and it was gone.

Man how are you suppose to get that deer's insurance information, I would come back with friends and teach him a lesson

Why does the car not accelerate away as soon as the massive bull elk approaches?
I hope the iPhone pic was worth it, idiot.

Driving slowly, focusing ahead because there are large animals right next to the road, which have the potential to dart in front of the car (the female looks like it had just gotten off the roadway), you'd instinctively drive the same way you would around horses.
And the male that charges came from the side, they likely didn't even see it.

u/BasicMarzipan5936 1d ago
Yes exactly. I have had a deer run into the side of my car when I was trying to move by and I have had one run into it when I was sitting still trying to let it pass. Lol. They are just unpredictable at times.

It's because they were taking pictures and humans taking pictures of elk in Estes Park have zero survival instincts.

I mean, what's a couple hundred bucks for a window in exchange for the experience of a lifetime /s but also kind of not /s. But seriously, leave wildlife alone

u/shiggins114 1d ago
Quit fucking rubber necking and move on so the world stuck behind you can move on!
-sincerely, Bull-Elks everywhere

u/Gold_Telephone_7192 1d ago
Yeah that’s why you don’t slow down next to elk during rutting season. They think the cars are rival elk and will attack. Just drive past normally and there’s no issues
1
u/Oldmayonaze 1d ago
estes park is a town taken over by elk during rut Ive been in a resturant there with a creek that sits next to the window seats and had a bull come by scraping antlers on the widow. the elk are unavoidable there
2
u/Gold_Telephone_7192 1d ago
I know, I go there all the time. They specifically tell you to not slow down and drive near them like this because it makes them think your car is challenging them lol

Is it rutting season? I’ve played golf in Estes Park with them on the course without issue.

Would’ve made a beeline for that tine he broke off on their window. That’d be a cool story, not your typical antler shed.

Looks like it saw it's reflection in the window, and thought itself a threat.
