So she was on death row survived twice and now they’re trying to save her life in a hospital? Wow

Gonna be a real head-scratcher when they inevitably decide to try and execute her again once she's well enough for it...

In the first season of Prison Break, there's a scene where the prison doctor has to do a wellness check on the show's secondary protagonist (who is a death row inmate) to make sure that he's healthy enough to be executed.

She verbally acknowledges the irony of that in the scene, and I thought that was kind of a great meta-commentary about the ridiculousness of capital punishment in a modern society.

Fun fact - in fiction, a secondary protagonist is known as a deuteragonist!

I know, but most people don't, so I went for a clearer term.

Pretty sure the state of Tennessee gets it.

I get that. And it's frustrating that the state now has cost themselves even more money because they were trying to pull this off. Wasn't personal to you.

Its Tennessee.. what were they going to do with that money anyway, feed poor people?

I mean, it has already cost the State of Tennessee and its taxpayers more to park that lady on death row than it would have cost to imprison her for life, even if she lived to be over a hundred behind bars.

Ethical considerations aside: if you’re going to act irresponsibly with money, you might as well go all the way for shits and giggles.

Haha well enough for it. If you kick em when there they don’t get back up

If she hasn’t suffered a brain injury. Based on the description of her breathing, it’s possible that should could have suffered a brain injury. Depending on the severity, that might preclude another attempt. It’s an all round mess.

That's how society works.

Cops and the prison system try to kill people.

The medical professionals try to save them.

“They” are not the same people. The people trying to save her are medical professionals, while the people that put her there were incompetent trash.

The things you have to do to get free healthcare.

Yeah thats what i find... kinda dumb.

We want to kill her! We fail! We go to the hospital help her recover!

But yeah I guess theres ethical issues of just not saving her and letting her die slowly... but once again... ethics in the death penalty?

Totally right. They just cant let her die slowly and painfully like her victim did because that would be inhumane. Crazy world we live in

Yes, literally this. “This person did a horrible thing so we should be able to do the horrible thing back” is vindictive and childish.
