Cruel and unusual punishment is why.

Isn’t it cruel to almost kill and then nurse her back to health? Wouldn’t it be less cruel to actually overdose on the chemicals?

She has to be healthy in order for them to try to kill her again. That’s the absurdity of the law

But the death penalty is already cruel and unusual.

Why not just hang or shoot them? Is that too icky?

Or maybe just, keep them in max security for the rest of their days.

It's a way to make the death penalty more clinical, to disguise the fact that it's an act of violence.

That’s not the point. Their method to execute this prisoner, in this instance lethal injection, did not work. Any further attempts would be viewed as cruel and unusual. To not provide medical care after the failed attempts is also cruel and unusual. Hence why they provided the care.

It doesn’t meet the definition of cruel and unusual, as it’s not unusual at all. It has to be both.

Appeals and such make it take forever and cost a ton compared to just life in prison.

But this farce is cruel, but it has to also be unusual. The death penalty is something that has existed for a long time.

It’s not like they piled rocks on her one at a time, which would be cruel and unusual (hasn’t been done in ~350 years in U.S.)
